America Left A Lot Of Weapons In Yemen

TERRORISTS SCORE BIG … AGAIN

|| By FITSNEWS || We wrote earlier on the U.S. withdrawal from Yemen as part of America’s broader War on Terror (II) fail.  Which is funny considering six months ago U.S. president Barack Obama was touting Yemen as a success story.

“This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years,” Obama said last September.

Oops …

The whole debacle is proof that when it comes to American foreign policy, just wait a few months and “up” becomes “down” and “down” becomes “up.”  Hell, in Lindsey Graham‘s world you don’t even have to wait … you can hold conflicting positions simultaneously.

As long as that defense budget escalates along with the rhetoric, right?

Anyway, as if the humiliation of America’s withdrawal from Yemen weren’t sufficient now we learn there’s an actual price to be paid beyond just swallowed pride.

Specifically, $500 million worth of U.S. weaponry (delivered from 2007-14) that the Pentagon cannot account for – which has now presumably fallen into the hands of forces hostile to the United States.  Well, that’s the total we know of … tens of millions worth of additional military hardware had been provided from the Pentagon and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) under covert programs that aren’t included on budget line items.

Obviously the U.S. arms haul in Yemen is nowhere near as great as it was in Iraq, where U.S. taxpayers spent $25 billion to prop up the Iraqi Army – only to watch it get routed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

When will our leaders learn?

Ha!  Don’t be silly … they don’t want to learn.

This is all about keeping the military-industrial complex in business, people.

PS — Copied your advice on Texas women and keep it on the fridge. Just in case, should I buy some spurs?

Sounds like you have one of our good ones there…

Take her to a target range… an Argentine beef buffet… an antique store… and a coffee shop.

She’ll be eating oats out of your hand by sunset.

shifty henry March 24, 2015 at 8:51 am

(target range) — she’s sort of a shy, timid gal and a little bit emotional- think about Mildred Dunnock’s portrayal of Aunt Rose Comfort in the film “Baby Doll”
(beef buffet) — could be – her ex-hubby runs cattle on about 9,000 acres of rangeland
(antique store) — good idea and plenty of them
(coffee shop) — she doesn’t drink coffee
She’s an enigma and I need to learn more about her history, especially about the deal with her ex-hubby. I’m taking a slow, cautionary approach with this one. Right now I believe she may be worth all of the effort.

euwe max March 24, 2015 at 2:21 pm

You don’t take her to the range to shoot… you take her to watch *you* shoot (she might surprise you), and you don’t take her to a coffee shop for coffee… you take her for tea and pastry… at a coffee shop with outside seating in view of a park.

Working on it slowly but surely/ my patience knows no bounds… ps: when I pet her dogs I do look to see if they have any new, unusual leashes ( and if they can be tied together). When I left her the other night she called me “Hon”, but I think she said it unconsciously because she wasn’t smiling when she said it. Anyway, does “Hon” have some unusual significance in Texas — like maybe when an orphan calf is called a “dogie”? — just wondering?

euwe max March 24, 2015 at 5:27 pm

Everyone is “hon” here.

Well, …… that shatters my bubble of hope!

What’s the chance some of that $500 million was spent on the type of weapons that attached to drones and were of the “one time use” variety?

We’ve left plenty of weaponry almost everywhere in our vain attempts to gain local clients to fight the wars we feel they should be fighting.

Just because it’s left there doesn’t mean it’s useable. Most equipment left gets disabled to the point where it can’t be used. The way Will talks we left gun left in gun racks and tanks with rounds in the tubes.
