TERRORISTS SCORE BIG … AGAIN
|| By FITSNEWS || We wrote earlier on the U.S. withdrawal from Yemen as part of America’s broader War on Terror (II) fail. Which is funny considering six months ago U.S. president Barack Obama was touting Yemen as a success story.
“This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years,” Obama said last September.
Oops …
The whole debacle is proof that when it comes to American foreign policy, just wait a few months and “up” becomes “down” and “down” becomes “up.” Hell, in Lindsey Graham‘s world you don’t even have to wait … you can hold conflicting positions simultaneously.
As long as that defense budget escalates along with the rhetoric, right?
Anyway, as if the humiliation of America’s withdrawal from Yemen weren’t sufficient now we learn there’s an actual price to be paid beyond just swallowed pride.
Specifically, $500 million worth of U.S. weaponry (delivered from 2007-14) that the Pentagon cannot account for – which has now presumably fallen into the hands of forces hostile to the United States. Well, that’s the total we know of … tens of millions worth of additional military hardware had been provided from the Pentagon and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) under covert programs that aren’t included on budget line items.
Obviously the U.S. arms haul in Yemen is nowhere near as great as it was in Iraq, where U.S. taxpayers spent $25 billion to prop up the Iraqi Army – only to watch it get routed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
When will our leaders learn?
Ha! Don’t be silly … they don’t want to learn.
This is all about keeping the military-industrial complex in business, people.
