Todd Kincannon Saga: Kidnapping Charges Imminent

|| By FITSNEWS || Former S.C. “Republican” party official Todd Kincannon could soon be staring down a criminal kidnapping charge in connection with a bizarre domestic incident involving his wife, Ashely Griffith.

Sources close to the Lexington County, S.C. sheriff’s office tell FITS investigators are in the process of obtaining a warrant for Kincannon’s arrest in the aftermath of last Thursday’s episode – which appears to be part of a pattern of threatening behavior.

It’s not immediately clear whether Griffith is cooperating with investigators, although sources close to the 25-year-old say she has rebuffed his efforts at reconciliation.

News of the incident – first reported by The (Charleston, S.C.) City Paper – spread like wildfire on the national interwebs.  That’s not surprising given Kincannon’s status as a social media firebrand.

According to a police report filed by Lexington County deputies, Kincannon “began screaming at Ashely while they drove in their car” last Thursday evening following a work function.

“Ashely told (Kincannon) to let her out of their car to which he refused,” the police report continued.  ” Ashely proceeded to roll down the window and scream for (Kincannon) to let her out, hoping a bystander would call 9-1-1.”

Her efforts were unsuccessful …

Griffith then “called her mother for help and attempted to call 9-1-1 with an open line in order for the dispatcher to hear (Kincannon),” the report continued.

“While driving, (Kincannon) saw a police vehicle and ‘freaked out,'” according to the report.  “(He) threatened he would drive the car into a concrete barrier if the cops became involved.  In addition, (Kincannon) also threatened to kill himself if Ashely left.”

Kincannon also refused to let his wife leave the vehicle after they had arrived at their home.

At one point during the incident, Kincannon is said to have “grabbed Ashely’s arm, squeezing it tightly, thus preventing her from exiting the vehicle.”

Kincannon claimed to have “accidentally overdosed” on the prescription drug Benzonatate prior to the altercation with his wife – which is his explanation for the erratic behavior.  However sources close to the relationship tell FITS Kincannon has displayed similar bizarre and threatening behavior in the past.

Also, Griffith told police her husband “has made several threats in the past to kill himself, her, and her family” – and that she had preserved recordings of several such threats.

Ruh-roh …

Kincannon has yet to account for those allegations … although he doesn’t appear to be sweating them, either.

Anyway, stay tuned … we’ll be sure to bring you the latest in this rapidly escalating drama.
