Remember the big battle between BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina (BCBSSC) and Lexington Medical Center (LMC)?  Well, the swords have been put away.

“BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and Lexington Medical Center have reached agreement on their contract, which will keep the medical center, its affiliated physicians and its other health care providers in the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Preferred Blue (PPO) network,” a joint statement from the two entities released this week read. “There will be no interruption of in-network coverage.”

“Together, we agreed to work collaboratively to improve health care quality and patient outcomes while also reducing medical expenses,” the statement continued, adding “we apologize for any inconvenience caused by our earlier inability to reach agreement.”

An “incident” at the S.C. Department of Corrections (SCDOC)’s maximum security facility in Bishopville, S.C. – news of which broke exclusively on FITS – has been brought under control.  According to agency officials, multiple inmates at Lee Correctional Institution attacked a corrections officer during a search  – prompting a massive response from the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Seven inmates and two officers were injured during the fracas.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway …

Well there’s good news … Danni Bloom and her family are now not only receiving their mail again, but the postmaster in question has agreed to let them move their mailbox to a location where it’s safer for them to retrieve it each day.

Take a look …
