The South Carolina State House is a study in contrasts …

On the one hand it is among the most historic, majestic seats of power in America – an architecturally stunning, aesthetically endearing monument that draws tourists from all over the country. On the other hand, it is a cesspool of excess and corruption populated by the very worst sorts of people – those who have been given the power to better the lives of those they rule, but have chosen instead to better themselves (at the expense of those they rule).

How bad is it? Bad, people … really bad. And it’s not likely to get better anytime soon.

Every day we cover this cesspool … which when you think about it is the definition of insanity. Seriously … do we think things are ever going to change in South Carolina?

No …

Yet we press on: Trying to uncover the truths, right the wrongs, expose the hypocrites, etc., etc., etc.

As part of our coverage each year we are privileged to work with award-winning photojournalist Travis Bell – who annually trains his lens on this historic building and the unsavory souls who occupy it. Here is a photo gallery of recent images taken by Bell from in and around the State House.

Enjoy!

The Pharaohs didn’t skimp on the cost of the pyramids, it was slave labor not their own blood, sweat, & tears.

Same deal with the Capital crowd.

Plus, what better monument to their power and grandeur? It’s a modern day pyramid, made for similar reasons-too bad we can’t bury all of them in it.

Would recommend we bury all of them “under it”

Putting any of their lying cockroach carcasses inside the capitol would be sacrilege

Could that be a phone number or money changing hands? The picture isn’t clear.

So did Travis take the pictures of the legs? If so, was that at your specific direction, Will?
