“TOLERANCE” IS NOT ALIVE AND WELL IN SOUTH CAROLINA …

|| By FITSNEWS || So while Chinese investors were gobbling up huge chunks of the Grand Strand at record setting prices, a social experiment that took place on the streets of Myrtle Beach, S.C. was gaining national attention.

It involved “cyberfeminist” performance artist Signe Pierce – who wore a reflective mask, blue mini-dress and neon stripper heels as she strolled down Ocean Boulevard while her lover/ independent filmmaker, Alli Coates, who chronicled what happened.

So … what happened?  A short film called “American Reflexxx,” which debuted online earlier this month.  The film – edited with subtitles – includes all sorts of insanity, vulgarity and … yes … violence.

In fact at the 10:20 mark of the video, Pierce is shoved to the ground by a woman in the crowd as onlookers stand around taking videos on their cell phones.

It’s a disturbing look at, well, South Carolina.  And the mob mentality in general.

Was Pierce deliberately provocative in her act?  Of course … although last time we checked she was permitted freedom of expression.

And to be fair, the Myrtle Beach mob that dehumanized her (thus proving the point of her experiment … we think) is permitted freedom of expression too.  Of course the physical violence against Pierce was totally unacceptable.

Take a look …

The artist’s response to all this?

“It was worth it,” she tweeted.

So far, “American Reflexxx” has amassed more than 800,000 views on YouTube.

The violence might have been staged. Who knows?

Not sure, but it’s what they wanted nevertheless. They wouldn’t have gotten their “proof” of unfettered “transphobia” if it didn’t end in violence.

Wow, a social experiment to show that a bunch of animals roam ocean blvd at night? No way!

Yep, Ocean Blvd is basically the state fair with a seaside backdrop. You go to the carnival, you’re going to get carny like behavior. If you’ve been to “the strip” in the last couple of years you know the general human condition there is completely unrefined filth. The confirmation bias was pretty strong when these “filmmakers” selected the location to stage this “social experiment”. Wonder what sort of reaction that would garner say at an event like The Cup in Camden or a Barry Manilow concert.

He/She/It would have gotten fashion tips at a Barry Manilow concert and probably about the same treatment at ‘The Cup’…

Bet they wouldn’t try this “social experiment” in the dirty Myrtle over “Memorial Day” weekend.

Per Folks, all the “participants” were SC natives and were educated in SC “government-run” school. Right Will?

Government run schools, most likely. SC natives, who knows?

There’s no way all of those people were from Myrtle Beach, SC, or even the South. Sure, there were a lot of Southern accents, but some were of indeterminate origin. There was a bit of an argument about this on my Facebook timeline.

I have no doubt that none of this was really staged. It may seem that way, as the triumvirate of the woman in the mask and “stipperwear”, the “axe murderer” from the haunted dungeon, and the black “hell-fire and brimstone” street preacher seemed like a set-up. But you can always find truly bizarre street theatre down there — including crazed evangelists who hang themselves on crosses, and all manner of exhibitionistic displays of female flesh. In fact, some of those tormenting the subject of the video were just as provocatively dressed as she.

In the weirdest of coincidences, after I posted it, my daughter informed me that the guy who did the decent thing and helped the victim of the attack — remarking “Y’all, this is embarassing!” — was a friend of hers from the NC Triad area, who was working down here that summer (’13). I’d never met him, but checked his FB profile, and sure enough, that was the guy.

It’s a small world down here. And a crazy one … especially downtown in the Summer.

Interesting — especially to see the future leaders of SC exhibit their intelligence. I guess the Chamber of Commerce was caught off guard. Now folks everywhere will want to take their families to Myrtle Beach to show their kids how cockroaches behave. Anyway, the girl has poise as she strolls, and Fits gives up some more office porn. Hmmm, I wonder if the T-Rav is worried about competition?

Mob violence or dehumanization is for those too weak to think for themselves.

Unfortunately, if you do something/anything to draw attention to yourself, you sometimes get that attention, whether its positive or negative. I don’t think this reflects negatively on MB, as this could have happened anywhere, as unfortunate as that is.

It would have been nice, however, if someone in the crowd would have tracked down the ‘lady’ who pushed her and followed up. She probably scurried away to meet her lover, Grand Tango.

Those “record” prices the Chinese are paying are record low prices. They gotta get their dollars out of China before their government cracks down on corruption.

Didn’t watch the video, but people like this are seeking attention, for all we know this was staged to get the reaction they wanted.

The attacker was just making her own statement about the vapid self indulgence that permeates the digitalized masses. Or, my performance art can beat up your performance art.

Anyone who knows the Redneck Riviera knows that the 10 or so blocks of Ocean Boulevard at the heart of the freak show draw kooks from all over the country, not just SC (or even the south). It is in no way representative of anything other than what it is- a freak show. Better than 90% of the nutcakes wandering around that stretch of pavement after dark are damaged in some way or another (physically, emotionally, psychologically, etc.), so no real shock that this little experiment went south on her. If she *really* wants to put on a show, tell her to come back for the Memorial Day riots and throw her silly getup back on and take a stroll.
