South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Tuesday that he sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland urging Garland to take “swift action” against “terrorist attacks” directed at anti-abortion organizations.
Wilson was joined by 18 other state attorneys general who called the “lack of action intolerable, politically motivated and in violation of his oath of office.”
The letter stated that since May, charities that support pregnant mothers and other pro-life organizations have been firebombed, attacked and terrorized almost daily. The letter, however, did not include reference to any specific acts of violence.
Wilson’s letter comes on the heels of the leak in May that announced the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Wilson suggested the Department of Justice start its investigation with a pro-choice group called Jane’s Revenge. According to Wilson, Jane’s Revenge is “far-left extremist group” whose name is based on the reference to an underground Chicago organization Jane’s Collective that helped women obtain abortions prior to the Roe v Wade decision. Jane’s Revenge is calling for more violence against pro-life organizations, according to Wilson’s news release.
Jane’s Revenge has claimed responsibility for attacks in Colorado, Massachusetts, Oregon, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin, according to the news release.
