This tragic (and preventable) event has once again elevated some of the most ignorant, most divisive voices in America to the forefront of the national debate.
We didn’t expect, however, that one of those voices would belong to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC).
Take a look at this tweet, though …

Oy … that’s quite an interesting segue from the barrage of tweets about the state’s ongoing flu epidemic, huh?
We wonder … will this warrant a retweet from U.S. president Donald Trump?
We reached out to SCDHEC in an effort to figure out what was up with this (obviously) errant tweet.
“We’ve removed it and changed our passwords twice in the last half hour,” agency spokesman Tim Kelly told us. “Still trying to find out what happened.”
Clearly someone who was not authorized to tweet on SCDHEC’s behalf got into its social media platform … or someone who was authorized to tweet on SCDHEC’s behalf is about to get fired.
Either way, we’ll let our readers know what we’re able to uncover …
UPDATE: Well, well … this scandal has actually cost someone their job.
WANNA SOUND OFF?
