Like most South Carolina politicos, we went gaga over former WLTX TV (and current Fox News) anchor Ainsley Earhardt back in the day. She was – and still is – fine as hell, of that there can be no doubt. She’s also built like a damn brick barnyard.
Over the years, though, we’ve learned Earnhardt was a “genius from the neck down” – excelling mainly at reading lines (unless of course those lines included the names of OPEC nations, which have always given Earnhardt fits). We’ve also come to view her as more conventionally attractive than anything else … which is another way of saying she’s pretty, but in a way lots of other women are similarly pretty.
She’s not distinctively attractive … like Dianne Gallagher.
Earnhardt is still a legend in the Tally Atwater-worshiping world of television news babes because she landed a coveted national gig – and has a clothing allowance the size of most local anchors’ salaries. And she’s also still lusted after by millions of Fox News viewers (which we suppose is one way to make a living).
That’s why we suspect two items in a local auction are going to fetch big bucks … even though our founding editor won’t be getting in on the bidding himself (he’s got his eye on some stylish Dior pumps).
What are we referring to? A pair of original Ainsley Earhardt “game worn” dresses that are part of a “Bidding For Good” online auction benefiting something called the The Cooperative Ministry.
Also included in the auction? A jacket belonging to U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn (alas, not a Cosby sweater) and assorted local anchor schwag.
Oh and those Dior pumps, but we will seriously break somebody’s neck if they try to outbid us on those.
In the meantime, here’s some fodder for that whole “conventionally attractive” discussion.
