U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford – a.k.a. the “Love-Struck Mooncalf” – is sounding off on the recent terrorist attacks in France. And government spending. And how the two are related. Oh, he’s also shilling for a foundering grassroots advocacy group. And touting his own role in the battle to protect us from ISIS and the national debt.
You know, because nothing will scare the terrorists – or the K Street lobbyists – quite like a lisping narcissist who briefly doubled as an Air Force reservist.

“The threat of sinister groups like ISIS is alive and real and is our focus on it, it’s important we not lose sight of the financial threat that continues to grow in this country,” Sanford wrote in a recent email to his constituents.
We’ll forgive the incoherence of that sentence (“and is our focus on it”) but … really?

“Though ISIS gets TV coverage that the debt does not, it is important to remain vigilant against this threat as well,” Sanford added.
Wait. Vigilant … like Sanford?
Like any narcissist, Sanford quickly got back to the real reason for his correspondence: Self-promotion.
“Last week, I visited with a group of activists in the Bluffton (S.C.) area, and was struck by their efforts and the time they take to educate others on the growing dangers of both the size of our government and our debt,” he wrote. “FreedomWorks does great work … and it’s not an entity, its regular people from home who care about the direction of our country and what comes next.”
Really? Last we heard FreedomWorks was on its last legs … shedding top talent, struggling to secure donors and relying on dolts like Sanford in a desperate bid to try and replace lost members.
Of course they gave Sanford an “atta boy” for his efforts, so he gave them the equivalent of an electronic reach-around.
“For their encouragement in the battle before us I wanted to indeed pause, reflect … and say thank you,” he wrote. “For all you who do the same in different forms, indeed thank you. Government spending does not draw headlines, but the threat to individual freedom and our way of life in some ways is more profound than even what we see covering the TV these days.”
Dude. You said that already.

Efforts to force the administration to release the directive or portions of it under the Freedom of Information Act have been unsuccessful. …
The directive outlines why the administration has chosen the Muslim Brotherhood, which last year was labeled a terrorist organization by the governments of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates as a key vehicle of U.S. backing for so-called political reform in the Middle East. …
The UAE government also has labeled two U.S. affiliates of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim American Society, as terrorist support groups.
