Clemson University has another fraternity scandal on its hands …
According to Fox Carolina, a Shelby, N.C. man was brutally beaten by numerous Clemson students during the Tigers’ victory over North Carolina in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) championship game in Charlotte, N.C. on December 5.
Tar Heel fan Richard Pruitt, 33, suffered a broken nose and fractured eye socket during the attack – which he said involved up to fifteen members of Clemson’s Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Pruitt’s car was also vandalized during the incident.

“University police and administrators are investing allegations that Clemson students were involved in a disturbance in Charlotte while tailgating at the ACC Championship Game, and we have been told that at least one person was injured and property damaged,” a Clemson spokeswoman told the station. “These allegations, if true, do not reflect the values and character of Clemson University or the majority of our students, and could lead to serious sanctions and possible criminal charges.”
The fraternity has yet to respond to the allegations …
UPDATE: Well, well … in one of the most confusing updates to a story we’ve ever seen, Pruett’s brother told Fox Carolina that Pi Kappa Alpha was not involved in the assault. “It was a case of mistaken identity and as a brother of the victim I was quick to place blame. I can only offer my apologies to all officials of Clemson University and the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity,” he told the station.

Since the attackers were frat boys I’d say the damages are pretty severe considering most of the punches were likely slaps. I wonder how many broken thumbs they got, because you know they punched with their thumbs tucked into their fists.

If the story is true, and there is no reason to doubt the incident occurred, it is a bush league move on behalf of the Clemson students. I would hate to see what they would have done if Clemson was on the losing end. Be a gracious winner, act like you have been there before.

Except it’s not true and this idiot just made all people in Clemson Greek life and all Clemson astudents and alumnus lives harder by giving us unwanted publicity that devalues our expensive diplomas and time invested into Greek life. And if you think I’m overblowing the situation I’m really not. Clemson fraternities that do everything 100% correctly are already being destroyed by administration after the death of Tucker Hipps. And now even with a bogus claim we will be scrutinized even more.

Sadly, I’ve had, over the years, the dubious honor of having worked with 2 guys that were members of the multiple self inflicted gun shot wound club. After getting to know them, I had little trouble understanding their enrollment to the club. The 4x member, yes 4, was a little pugnacious alcoholic who like to wave a handgun around whenever he felt slighted. How others didn’t shoot him first perhaps also qualified him as a quick draw as well. The other was a 2x who was an expert in all things guns except safety checking. They both were the most stupid intelligent people you could ever meet.

I was there before the game and this guy had his shirt off and was raging around like he was on drugs. Not an excuse for the students actions but this definitely was not a one sided altercation.

Two unreported facts. First, Pruett’s brother is a Clemson police officer. Second, the Clemson frat boys thought this assault was permissible in this case because they thought Pruett was African-American, and apologized for not using a flashlight to verify his race before commencing the brutality.
