Attorneys for scandal-ravaged South Carolina pastor John-Paul Miller and the family of Mica Miller, his late wife, jointly announced a global settlement resolving all pending civil matters between them – and between the Mica’s family and Solid Rock Ministries in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The agreement would appear to end one of the most contentious chapters in this saga – which was thrust into the international limelight three months ago when Miller appeared to take her own life in the middle of a state park more than a hour away from her home.
As first reported by our media outlet, Miller’s body was found at 4:23 p.m. EST on April 27, 2024 at North Carolina’s Lumber River State Park – a sprawling 14,000-acre wilderness straddling this scenic blackwater river. Mica had traveled to this remote location from Myrtle Beach, S.C. earlier that day. Her body was discovered by police in a swampy area located approximately forty meters away from where shell casings and her belongings were recovered.

Mica’s death was officially ruled a suicide by North Carolina investigators and medical examiners.
Mica Miller died less than two weeks after filing for divorce from John-Paul Miller – and less than 48 hours after he was served with divorce papers.
Terms of the global settlement – including financial details – were not disclosed. Nor will they be disclosed, per the terms of the confidential agreement. Accordingly, neither Miller nor Mica’s family were available for comment after the brief court hearing in Conway, S.C.
During an impromptu press conference following the court hearing, attorneys Russell Long (representing Miller and his church) and Regina Ward (representing Mica’s family) both urged those seeking justice for Mica to focus instead on passing reforms to South Carolina’s domestic violence statutes. Those reforms would tighten restrictions on coercive control, or actions which “make a person subordinate or dependent by isolating the person from sources of support, exploiting the person’s resources and capacities for personal gain” or “depriving the person of the means needed for independence, resistance, or escape.”

“This is justice for Mica,” Long told reporters.
Is it, though?
Long also claimed “South Carolina police” had reviewed the investigatory findings of the Robeson County sheriff’s office – the agency which investigated Miller’s supposed suicide – and had closed the case. He also strongly implied that a rumored federal investigation into Miller had similarly concluded.
Pressed on that statement, Long declined to specify which agency he was referring to – and stated his belief that the federal investigation had closed was based on particular questions posed to his client by federal authorities.
Of interest? Sources familiar with the status of the federal investigation refused to confirm the statements made by Long.

There’s that word again . . . “casings”. Nobody has explained how there are multiple casings at a suicide site.
Maybe she tested the gun before using it to be sure it would do what she needed it to do.
