South Carolina Freedom Caucus chairman Adam Morgan received the endorsement of Marine veteran and 2018 GOP gubernatorial candidate John Warren in his bid for the U.S. Congress, his campaign announced this week.

“The Upstate deserves a congressman who will fight for fiscal discipline and accountability in Congress,” Warren said in a statement announcing his support. “Adam Morgan has fought and won on conservative issues and I know he will uphold the Republican platform in Washington. He truly embodies the spirit of the ‘Fighting Fourth’ and will be someone who listens to his constituents and advances conservative policy.”

Morgan has previously been endorsed by Greenville County sheriff Hobart Lewis, among other local conservatives. In fact, Warren and Lewis both appeared in a radio ad launched on Monday morning (May 20, 2024) in support of Morgan’s insurgent bid against incumbent William Timmons.

Timmons isn’t going down without a fight, though. Over the last few weeks, he’s been hammering Morgan on the issue of abortion – arguing the Freedom Caucus chairman endorsed legislation that would put rape and incest victims who had abortions in jail.

In fact, we are told a new television advertisement on this issue is dropping across the fourth district later today …

Timmons is also scoring some significant endorsements, though. In addition to previously receiving the backing of former U.S. president Donald Trump, last week he was endorsed by four-term S.C. attorney general Alan Wilson.

“President Donald Trump and thousands of conservatives stand with William because he’s a proven winner,” Timmons’ campaign said in a statement.

As previously noted, Timmons is exceedingly vulnerable in the aftermath of his ‘Days of our Congressman’ saga – a self-induced implosion in his personal life that spit out damaging headlines for months on end. Things have gotten so bad for him he’s been forced to use tax money in an effort to boost his tattered image.

Morgan is the first credible challenge Timmons has faced since he captured this seat in 2018. The two face off against each other on June 11, 2024 in the Republican primary election.
