“REPUBLICAN” GOVERNORS MOVING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS ON IMMIGRATION ISSUE

North Carolina governor Pat McCrory has signed legislation banning so-called “sanctuary cities” in the Tar Heel State and tightening standards for the identification of residents.

The “Protect North Carolina Workers Act” – signed into law last Wednesday – will keep municipalities from willfully ignoring federal immigration laws (which are obviously no longer being enforced by the administration of Barack Obama).

“Today, North Carolina is standing up for the rule of law, which is central to North Carolina values and our country’s values,” McCrory said in a statement. “Public safety officials must have the flexibility and tools to investigate crimes and sanctuary city policies deprive law enforcement of those tools.”

That’s true …

So … why isn’t South Carolina following suit?

Good question …

One reason could be because S.C. governor Nikki Haley – a 2016 vice presidential wanna-be – has been approaching America’s open borders problem from the opposite end of the political spectrum (violating state law in the process).  She’s also been bashing the one GOP presidential candidate driving the national debate over this issue.

In other words don’t expect to see her follow McCrory’s lead anytime soon …

Good for NC. Very good for them.

We banned mutilating babies, and selling the parts for enormous profits, too. But you liberals do it anyway…and the Democrats lavish you with money because you kill the innocent…

Maybe if we banned sanctuary cities, you’ll get your activists courts to circumvent the people, and make it law…like you redefined marriage for a small gaggle shilling for the homosexual lobbyists…

Why is it you use COLOR as derogatory to insult the people you hate? Another liberal RACIST, no doubt.

I hope you know that the Black Plague was an actual disease called Yersinia pestis.

While we are at it let’s ban camel racing. North Carolina has sanctuary cities, but not South Carolina. This issue has nothing to do with legal immigrants moving to Spartanburg. Scroll down to NC and SC on this link.

no e-verify for all November 2, 2015 at 10:04 am

They wrote the law as to exempt farming and domestic workers. They don’t have to use E-verify if they work less than 9 months a year or their employment is sporadic or irregular. The other part of what they accomplished with this law is to outlaw illegals using ID issued from their home countries and used this opportunity to kick people off the food stamp rolls (ALL people with no children can not ask for an extension after 90 days)

Yes it dupes dumb ass Tea Partiers into believing McCrory and his henchmen are doing something for them. They believe this law benefits NC workers, when in fact it is designed to continue the status quo of Republican donors using and abusing undocumented workers.

Its like the tax law changes McCrory and his henchmen ushered in. The dumb ass Tea Partiers were once again duped into believing those laws benefited them. When in fact the laws increased taxes on middle class North Carolinians and decreased taxes on wealthy North Carolinians.

McCrory is the most corrupt Governor NC has had in decades. The damage he has done to NC Reputation in his short tenure is unbelievable. He has turned the state from the fair haired child of the New South, to just another Tea Party hell hole with crappy education and run by corrupt politicians on the payroll of big business.

Well, that was a lot of information in one shot, and good information it was. So what you’re saying is, he’s working hard to make North Carolina like South Carolina?

Sorry, but yes; and Mississippi. He has already destroyed the reputation of our primary and secondary school system. Good teachers are fleeing the state left and right. His next target is our University system. You would think no one would mess with success. UNC is widely recognized as one of the top universities in the US. But no, they are attacking that as well. Once the top professors start abandoning UNC and other state supported schools, that reputation will disappear as well.

If these maniacs are not stopped, you guys will no longer have to say, “Thank god for Mississippi.” You will have a new state to point to.

Rocky, your as squirrelly as your logo. A politician is not corrupt if he/she fulfills his/her campaign promises and policies. Considering the fact that NC citizens overwhelmingly view McCrory (and his Party) positively, one could reasonably assume that all is well in NC. Your rantings and miss information only boils down to sour grapes on your part.

What misinformation did I present. I admit my my characterization of McCrory as corrupt is my personal opinion, based on the observation of his actions. Otherwise the information I provided is accurate.

What additional penalties did they place on employers who hire illegal aliens? After all this is about protecting the jobs of NC workers, right? I will help you out. NONE. NC could totally protect NC workers by passing laws requiring mandatory jail time for the owners and managers of companies who hire undocumented workers. But being typical Republican hypocrites, they would never do that.
This way their buddies can hire undocumented workers, and have even more control over them than they did before. If they turn their employer in, they get arrested; while Joe Republican, who has been benefiting from Jose working 50 hours a week for $3 an hour, says oh shit! now I have to get me another Mexican.
What a bunch of corrupt ass holes.

Achilles November 2, 2015 at 2:59 pm

I agree. Placing the onus and penalty on owners and managers of companies which willfully hire illegal aliens would end this farce we are faced with today.

“After all this is about protecting the jobs of NC workers, right?”

You are correct, it’s not. However the only thing protecting an American worker competing with a $3/hour Mexican for a job is time…as it’s just a matter of time before there are no jobs that require a $3/hour type person left in America as they will all have went to Mexico, China, & Africa.

William November 2, 2015 at 5:03 pm

i do not agree. We will always need people to build houses and office buildings. We will always need people to work in restaurants, grocery stores, and clothing stores. We will always need people to do yard work and household repairs, plumbing, heat and air, and roofing. We will always need people to repair the roads, and clean the streets. We will always need cab drivers, doormen and hotel staff. We will need people to care for the elderly. There are a lot more.

Now not all of these or cheap labor jobs, but many can be done with minimal training. We need to concentrate on making these jobs meaningful Middle Class jobs. We should not be in a race to the bottom. We need to support middle class income.

The problem, if one needs to be reminded, is that there is an invasion by foreigners, also know as illegal aliens, into a sovereign country. Who have NO respect for our laws. If this country cannot enforce our boundaries then we have no country.

State preemption of local law

“Section 6-1-170. (A) For purposes of this section, ‘political
subdivision’ includes, but is not limited to, a municipality, county,
school district, special purpose district, or public service district.

(B) A political subdivision of this State may not enact any ordinance
or policy that limits or prohibits a law enforcement officer, local
official, or local government employee from seeking to enforce a state
law with regard to immigration.

(C) A political subdivision of this State may not enact any ordinance
or policy that limits or prohibits a law enforcement officer, local
official, or local government employee from communicating to appropriate
federal or state officials with regard to the immigration status of any
person within this State.

(D) A city, county, municipality, or other local government or
political subdivision may not enact any ordinance, policy, regulation,
or other legislation pertaining to the employment, licensing,
permitting, or otherwise doing business with a person based upon that
person’s authorization to work in the United States that exceeds or
otherwise conflicts with federal law or that is in conflict with state
law. An enactment found to be in conflict with federal or state law is
void.”

So what does this law do? Does it protect NC jobs for NC Citizens? No, it says to undocumented workers, if you go off the plantation, if you complain about your treatment, we will hunt you down. There will be no place for you to hide. No one will protect you or offer you sanctuary. We will arrest you, put you and your family in jail, and send you back to where you came from. So mind your master, do your job, keep your head down, don’t’ complain and you can stay as long as your master is happy with your work.

Ya know what? I see the griping and complaining about this just being a political ploy, etc. But you know what it does do? By just having the headline NC Bans Sanctuary Cities makes the ill-informed illegal choose NOT to go to NC. It also spurs other places to do the same.
