SOUTH CAROLINA LEADERS RAMP UP PRESSURE ON GOVERNMENT-FUNDED ABORTION PROVIDER
|| By FITSNEWS || South Carolina leaders are ramping up their efforts to hold government-subsidized abortion provider Planned Parenthood accountable for its gruesome fetal body parts scam.
We reported a few weeks ago on legislative efforts aimed at getting to the bottom of this deplorable operation, now executive branch leaders are getting involved.
Earlier this week S.C. governor Nikki Haley requested the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) to conduct an investigation of the Planned Parenthood abortion clinics in South Carolina.
This week, S.C. attorney general Alan Wilson is getting involved. In a letter to SCDHEC director Catherine Heigel, Wilson says Planned Parenthood’s South Carolina facilities may have broken state law in perpetrating the fetal body parts scam.
“As soon as you have completed the investigation (requested by Haley), we would appreciate a copy of any findings so that we may review them to determine whether or not a criminal inquiry is warranted under South Carolina law,” Wilson wrote to Heigel.
Not only that, Wilson informed Heigel his office is launching a probe to determine whether Planned Parenthood’s South Carolina offices have engaged in Medicaid fraud.
“Additionally, because these clinics may have received Medicaid reimbursements, I have directed Senior Assistant Deputy Attorney General Bill Gambrell with our Medicaid Fraud Control Unit to determine whether or not Medicaid fraud may have occurred,” he wrote.
Wilson reiterated these points in a separate letter to S.C. Senator Kevin Bryant, informing him of his letters to SCDHEC and his discussion of the issue with S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) chief Mark Keel.

In addition to state-level efforts, federal lawmakers are working to defund Planned Parenthood and investigate its harvesting and sale of fetal organs. Among them? U.S. Senators Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, who are leading the effort in Washington, D.C. on that front (see here and here).
Unfortunately, their efforts are unlikely to succeed as almost every Democrat – and a handful of “Republicans” – in the U.S. Senate support ongoing funding for Planned Parenthood.

“What we are dealing with is a holocaust, pure and simple … and there’s a special place in hell for those profiting off of it,” we wrote last month when the scandal first broke.

Also: Sanger opposed abortion. She believed it to be a barbaric practice. In her own words, “[a]lthough abortion may be resorted to in order to save the life of the mother, the practice of it merely for limitation of offspring is dangerous and vicious.” Her views are, ironically, in keeping with the views of many of the anti-choicers who malign and distort her legacy.
Except that those attacking Planned Parenthood via Sanger’s views from a century ago today still oppose contraception. I was listening to the radio in Maine recently, and ran across a station broadcasting the plaintive plea to any woman who might have tuned in, “Stop contracepting!”
