|| By FITSNEWS || Coming soon to a “First in the South” mailbox near you? Missives stating that Jeb Bush – one of the early frontrunners for the “Republican” presidential nomination – loves president Barack Obama‘s “death panels.”
Does he? Well, no … not really. But that’s not going to stop one (or more) of his would-be 2016 rivals from trying to convince you that he does.
And let’s face it … South Carolinians will believe anything.
“Death Panels” were introduced to the American consciousness by former “Republican” vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin back in 2009.
“The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care,” Palin wrote. “Such a system is downright evil.”
Palin’s claim was never proven … although in fairness to her it’s abundantly clear that those who drafted Obama’s socialized medicine law hold the “golden years” in very low esteem. And that such a view has been embraced in the past by Democratic frontrunner Hillary Rodham Clinton.
So where does Bush fall on the “end of life” debate?
According to The New York Times, he addressed the issue recently in the context of the debate over Terri Schiavo – a brain-damaged woman he fought to keep alive while serving as governor of Florida.
“The one thing that I would have loved to have seen was an advance directive where the family would have sorted this out,” Bush told a New Hampshire crowd. “I think if we’re going to mandate anything from government, it might be that if you’re going to take Medicare, you also sign up for an advance directive where you talk about this before you’re so disabled.”
Hmmmmm …
Obviously that statement does not imply support for permitting government bureaucrats to make such end-of-life decisions (nor is it even really much in the way of a slippery slope from Bush’s original views), but you’d better believe it will be portrayed in such a fashion – especially in a state like South Carolina that’s known for dirty tricks and gullible voters.

I dunno. I’m an old fart and I don’t think Jeb believes in death panels. I’ll never vote for him but I do believe he is the best the GOP has to offer. And that is sad. I hope watching the GOP over the next year will be like watching a burning kite fall to the ground. They have a full crew I’d like to see flame out.

I know a person right now that was sent home to die because of their age and it is a fact! By the way I will not vote for another Bush!

If you want something similar to the death panels dreamed up by sites like this, look at the private insurance industry. They decided all the time whether to pay for a procedure or let a person die, based on subjective factors, and what will cost the insurance company the least amount of money.

It wasn’t until the war went down the crapper along with his brother’s approval ratings that Jeb decided not to run. It was a selfish, hateful display of government intrusion into a private family matter that had already been settled by the courts. And the GOP Congress ran to it as well, and it was one further nail in their coffin in 2006 mid-terms. It was distasteful, and whatever comes back around in SC primary to hit him, Death Panels, Veggie Support, whatever, he has earned.
One look at her CT scan versus a normal CT scan of a brain is all you need to see to know she was gone and nothing was ever going to bring her back, you don’t even need a medical background. What they did by forcing her to stay in that state was nothing short of cruel and unusual punishment.
He did it on purpose in order to covy to the right, in anticipation of running in 2008. That’s exactly what he did. Makes you wonder who was the more brain-dead.

GT the story is a horribly sad one, but Rush is only giving one side of the story – no surprise there. She was already on a waiting list for a child’s lung, just not an adult one. They also temporarily suspended the under 12 rule.
“On June 12, 2013, Murnaghan underwent what would be the first of two double lung transplants. She received these lungs from an adult donor. In a statement immediately following the surgery, her family said, “The surgeons had no challenges resizing and transplanting the donor lungs – the surgery went smoothly, and Sarah did extremely well.”[17]
This first pair of lungs, however, failed within hours of completion of the operation, necessitating the transplantation of a second pair of adult lungs on June 15, 2013. Murnaghan was placed on an ECMO machine on June 12, 2013, until her second transplant on June 15, 2013.
According to the Associated Press, the second set of lungs were infected with pneumonia, but the girl’s condition was too dire to wait for another set of lungs to become available. Surgeons were able to remove the infected portion before the transplant. After the transplant, Murnaghan was able to take a few breaths on her own after doctors removed her breathing tube.[18]However, she quickly needed breathing assistance, and the tube was reinserted. It was later discovered that her diaphragm had become paralyzed.[19]
Complications[edit]
After her second transplant, Murnaghan developed pneumonia in her right lung.[20] ABC News reported that “A healthier patient might have turned down the lungs and waited for a better pair, but Sarah was out of options, so they went ahead with the operation.”[21] Sarah also needed a diaphragm plication (folding and suturing to tighten the diaphragm) and a Nissen fundoplication.[22]
Departure from hospital[edit]
On August 27, 2013, Murnaghan returned home from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she had been staying since February 19.[23] She is still undergoing physical therapy at home as part of her recovery and continues to struggle with compression fractures in her spine. However, according to her mother, Murnaghan is able to breathe off the ventilator for twelve hours a day.”

Not dishonest, I was raised: if you can’t say something good, might be better not to say anything at all. If I lie, it is by omission, leaving out things that might hurt someone.
I have been invited by various sources to publish and/or blog, including radio talk. I handed all of the off with the exception of a few articles I wanted to draft for my own purposes.
I am free thinker, which means when discussing things on a page or forum, I roll with it. If I am passionate enough about something – I have the ability to be more articulate.
I once posted on a site, strongly opposing a friend of mine whom I did not agree with on a particular topic. Within a week, an email was sent to my in box asking if I wanted to publish. I never responded.
I have published a few op-eds and other articles, but for the most part, I am content just discussing issues.
You see – I don’t need the money. I only speak out when I am passionate about something. I don’t require anyone’s approval. I speak when I am ready and that is all.

It feels like “Groundhog Day” Hasn’t this lie been debunked, called a lie and haven’t the people who keep hanging onto this myth been fined for saying it in court.
I have a living will that specified when to remove a ventilator or feeding tubes etcetera. It specifies when to revive me. I signed an organ donor card at the DMV. I would never agree to receive an organ transplant. No anti-rejection and immune suppression drugs for me.
I had a $2 million lifetime policy. I can’t see anyone spending more than 40 years wages to keep me alive. Under Obamacare it is no longer possible to buy a policy with lifetime limits. So I must pay for benefits I don’t want and won’t use.
I too have a living will with the end of life plan and an organ donor. I don’t want my children to have to make those decisions. Its a long and gruesome process to even think that far down the road, but I think we put ours in place late 30’s early 40’s.
