|| By FITSNEWS || We recently addressed former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum‘s patently insane “Jesus H. Warmonger” approach to American foreign policy … which is basically to take the demonstrably failed doctrine of global interventionism (espoused HERE) and throw in some Christianity for good measure.
Santorum’s hope? That he hits the “sweet spot” with pro-military, evangelical voters who hold disproportionate sway in early-voting states like South Carolina – which will host the “First in the South” presidential primary next year.
Is Santorum’s foreign policy efficacious? No. Just the opposite. But no matter. South Carolinians don’t know what “efficacious” means, nor are they apparently smart enough to grasp anything beyond “kill Muslims” and “Barack Obama bad.”
Take the bizarre tirade directed at Santorum during his appearance last week at a national security forum in West Columbia, S.C.
Virginia Ellisor – a former South Carolina school teacher – was inexplicably handed the microphone at this forum and allowed to pose a “question” to Santorum.
Ellisor began calmly and rationally enough, identifying herself as “a retired schoolteacher, lifelong political activist, and lifelong resident of South Carolina.”
In meandering to her point, she also correctly put her finger on the pulse of the GOP base’s frustration with certain congressional “Republicans” – most notably John Boehner, a perpetual appeaser of U.S. president Barack Obama.
“The American people put Republicans back in office in the House and the Senate and the two things we asked y’all to do was shut down Obama’s executive amnesty and shut down Obamacare,” she said. “And you didn’t. You let us down on both issues.”
That’s true … in fact FITS readers will recall we predicted as much (just as we predicted the broader GOP cave).
But Ellisor was just getting warmed up.
“Why is the Congress rolling over and lettin’ this Communist dictator destroy my country?” she screamed. “Y’all know what he is and I know what he is. I want him out of the White House. He’s not a citizen.”
Ok … so she’s a birther (a.k.a. one who believes Obama is not an American citizen and thus ineligible to be president). We don’t agree, but that’s her right.
But it gets even more bizarre …
Toward the end of her rant (which was mercifully stopped when a representative of the forum took away her microphone), Ellisor invoked a demonstrably false 2013 report about Obama attempting to detonate a nuclear device in Charleston, S.C. – and then firing several military commanders who refused to obey his order.
“Obama tried to blow up a nuke in Charleston a few months ago and the three Admirals and Generals,” she said. “He has totally destroyed our military. He has fired all the Generals and all the Admirals who said they wouldn’t fire on the American people if they ask ’em to do so if he wanted to take the guns away from ’em. This man is a Communist dictator. We need him out of the White House now.”

This website has made its contempt for Obama abundantly (and repeatedly) clear. Same goes for establishment “Republicans” like Santorum (and most of the other aspiring 2016 candidates). But with people like Virginia Ellisor out there, what’s the point in engaging the marketplace of ideas at all?

There has been an average of 250,000 jobs created per quarter, Obama has done the impossible and beaten the Clinton era numbers. If your premiums are high, maybe you should tell your elected officials to set up an exchange or get the Medicaid subisdy going, or elect someone who will. I went to a meeting last election, with a small group that split off from another one, just to check it out.
As you know I am not really a religious person. I participated in the Pledge of Allegiance, bowed my head in prayer and the meeting commenced.
It concluded with a radical Santorum supporter, who was a board member, standing up shouting, cursing – Eff this person and that person, basically eff anyone who did not support Santorum.
I can only imagine the bewildered look on my face, though I tried to hide it and ease my way toward the door.
I’ll bet he doesn’t like bacon.

Well, they DID kinda flip-flop their name designations, at least in the South, after Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and the Voting Rights Act in 1965.
