FROM SEATTLE TO CHARLOTTE …

By FITSNEWS  ||  Winners of an NFL-best six games in a row, the defending world champion Seattle Seahawks are the early favorites to win Super Bowl XLIX – according to the early Las Vegas odds.

The Seahawks – who have a first round by and home field advantage throughout the 2014 playoffs – are currently receiving 49-20 odds to repeat as Super Bowl champions, with bookies viewing the New England Patriots (3-1 odds) and Denver Broncos (13-2) as their most likely opponents.

Seattle (12-4) shellacked Denver 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII – the third-largest blowout in the history of the game.  To get revenge against the Seahawks, the Broncos (12-4) will more than likely have to get past the Patriots (12-4) – who have secured home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

That means Broncos’ quarterback Peyton Manning would have to beat Tom Brady in Foxborough, Massachusetts – where he has never won a playoff game.  Manning is 5-11 all-time against Brady – including two straight playoff wins (in 2007 and 2014) – but he’s never beaten Brady and the Patriots on the road in the playoffs.

This year’s postseason is much bigger than a potential Manning v. Brady rematch, though.   In the AFC, two-time Super Bowl champion Ben Roethlisberger – who boasts a 10-4 postseason record – has the Pittsburgh Steelers back in the playoffs for the first time in three years.  Meanwhile Super Bowl XLVII champion Joe Flacco – who has a 9-4 postseason mark – has the Ravens back in the postseason after a one-year absence.

And of course our founding editor’s new man-crush – Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback Andrew Luck (1-2 playoffs) – is looking to make his first league championship game after leading Indy to the postseason for the third straight year (and breaking Manning’s single-season Colts’ passing record in the process).

Over in the NFC, Super Bowl XLV champion Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers (5-4 playoff record) is having one of the best years of his career, while Tony Romo (1-3 playoffs) and Matthew Stafford (0-1 playoffs) are looking to make their marks on the postseason.

Dallas has the best offensive line in football, while the Lions have the league’s best rushing defense.

Oh, and let’s not forget about those Charlotte Panthers …

Looking to place a bet?  Here are the odds …

Seattle Seahawks – 49-20
New England Patriots – 3-1
Denver Broncos – 13-2
Green Bay Packers – 131-20
Dallas Cowboys – 14-1
Pittsburgh Steelers – 26-1
Detroit Lions – 30-1
Cincinnati Bengals – 35-1
Indianapolis Colts – 41-1
Arizona Cardinals – 42-1
Baltimore Ravens – 70-1
Carolina Panthers – 100-1

Super Bowl XLIX is scheduled to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. EST from University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale Arizona. NBC will televise the game nationally.

It is truly sad that “University of Phoenix Stadium” is a thing.

I don’t think I’ve watched a regular season NFL game since the late 1980’s and haven’t watched a Superbowl in 5-6 years. The NFL has gone the way of the NBA, all showboating and “look at me” players. I see it in NCAA football as well, a team is down by 40 points a defensive player makes a routine play against the 3rd string and gets up and celebrates like he scored a game winning touchdown… that faggoty-assed football skip thing included.
