University of Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray didn’t win the Heisman Trophy in 2012. Nor did he guide his team to a second straight national championship.

Still, Murray beat out defending Heisman winner Johnny Manzeil and two-time defending national champion A.J. McCarron as the Southeastern Conference’s top quarterback, according to a list of All-SEC teams compiled by the conference’s coaches. Murray was one of three Georgia Bulldogs on the All-SEC first team offense (running back Todd Gurley and tight end Arthur Lynch were the others) – and to his credit he did lead the league a year ago in passing yards (3,893) and touchdowns (36).

Manziel is a second-team All-SEC preseason pick, while McCarron was a third-team selection. All three are leading Heisman Trophy candidates …

Anchoring the first-team All-SEC defense? Another Heisman Trophy frontrunner – University of South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who set school records in sacks and tackles for loss last year.

Here’s the entire 2013 preseason All-SEC team …

Wow, USC sure doesn’t have many players on those teams. Two 1st round, Three 2nd round, and one 3rd round. Bruce Ellington represents two of the six picks.

Wow, was USC’s back up QB, or 3rd string running back along with Ellington (the starting point guard in basketball) on any of the last 2 years pre-season teams when they whipped that tater ass the last 2 years (even though they actually won the last 4)? Tater fans are idiots.
