BOOTS ON THE GROUND! COMING TO A “DESERT DEMOCRACY” (NOT) NEAR YOU!
By FITSNEWS || Is anybody surprised that scarcely a week after U.S. president Barack Obama doubled down on the number of “advisors” in Iraq, that his top military official let slip the administration is considering “boots on the ground?”
As in combat troops … in Iraq.
That’s right … the “dumb war” once castigated by Obama the presidential candidate (and then ended by Obama the president) is about to be back like cooked crack. All because the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) – our former allies – are continuing to open up cans of whoop ass (a.k.a. “volcanoes of jihad“) all over the place.
Time to face facts: America’s ill-conceived (Air) War on Terror in Iraq isn’t working. And now … as we predicted … the drumbeat for ground troops is beginning.
Just ask Martin Dempsey, chairman of Obama’s joint chiefs of staff … who explicitly stated the administration is “considering” supplementing Iraqi troops with U.S. soldiers in the battle to retake the city of Mosul from ISIS.
“I’m not predicting at this point that I would recommend that those forces in Mosul and along the border would need to be accompanied by US forces, but we’re certainly considering it,” Dempsey said.
And there it is … ground troops. Officially on the table.
Obama has vowed U.S. combat troops will not be returning to Iraq – where a U.S.-led invasion from 2003-11 obviously failed to make the region “safe for democracy” (as if that’s something that should have ever been an American foreign policy objective in the first place).
Anyway … the endless war rolls on. And with each senseless escalation, America becomes less safe, less free and less prosperous.

Stand by for Obama to renege on yet another promise.
Just like Rome of antiquity….perpetual war, inflation, ever expanding gov’t- then “boom”…it ends. Our barbarians won’t be at our gate, we’ll have leave the grounds for our defeat. I’m not sure it’ll take the US empire 300 more years though…that seems too optimistic.

Roosevelt had been actively anticipating/preparing for/seeking war for years. While the argument can certainly be made that this was the correct course of action…there is no way in Hell that the above quote wasn’t a bald-faced lie told to the American people by FDR.

On another note: I am just about as tired of hearing “boots on the ground’ as I was “surge”. I flew/hauled “surgees” all over the fucking place over there and every time I hear the word “surge” in a sentence (no matter how it is used) I get a funny feeling in my stomach!!!!
All that aside, the odds are that we will end up having actual combat forces back over there and not in an advisory capacity either.
