By fitsnews – February 24, 2013Lexington County (S.C.) coroner Harry Harmon has been hospitalized after a serious car accident, local television station WLTX TV 19 (CBS – Columbia, S.C.) is reporting.
Harmon’s single car crash took place around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, according to the station.
According to Harmon’s office the coroner “was heading home from a funeral visitation at Southland Memorial Gardens when he was involved in a crash.”
Harmon’s office added he “was the only person in the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.”
Sources tell FITS Harmon’s injuries were “very serious.”
Harmon is one of several county officials rumored to be involved in the “Lexington Ring,” a cabal of crooked cops and corrupt politicians allegedly running an illegal video poker operation (and various other shady endeavors) out of their government offices.
According to WLTX the S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident … although given the agency’s connections to the ring it’s not immediately clear whether they are working to uncover or bury what really happened.
