GOP EVENT CANNED DUE TO FOOTBALL SCHEDULING CONFLICT
Earlier this week the talented and lovely Taylor Brown provided us with a report on a “Republican” campaign school being held in Charleston, S.C. next month. The school – endorsed by GOP majority leader Bruce Bannister – was originally scheduled for December 5.
Unfortunately, sources close to the GOP Caucus tell FITS the event – which was designed to “help candidates running in the 2016 primary and general election learn the tools they need to be victorious” – has been cancelled.
What happened? Apparently one of the dim bulbs at the “Republican” organization forgot to check the football calendar – or was convinced Clemson University’s top-ranked football team was going to lose to Florida State last weekend (they didn’t).
Clemson’s win over FSU means the Tigers are headed to Charlotte, N.C. on December 5 to play in the ACC championship game against (presumably) the North Carolina Tar Heels.
And of course everybody in the S.C. General Assembly is going …
According to emails obtained by FITS, one of the caucus staffers – Chris Slick – was responsible for setting the campaign school date for the “first Saturday in December” around three weeks ago.
Sheesh … sounds like someone needs to be looking for a new job (although we wouldn’t recommend a career in the sports betting business).

North Carolina’s ticket has not been punched just yet. Duke, Pitt or if Armageddon was to strike even Miami could still go to the ACC Championship.
