As long as they:
Get rid of the “soviet bloc” style Gressett, Dennis, Brown and Blatt buildings
“Inhouse” the “gubamint” agencies spread all over Richland County
Sell off all of the now vacated “outhouse” buildings (pun intended)
Name them for people who’ve been dead for at least 100 years
Employ an architect that understands “beauty and form”, has the ability to match appropriate architectural styles (think Hampton building) and isn’t related to any member of the house or senate by blood or financial arrangement
Employ a builder who isn’t related to any member of the house or senate by blood or financial arrangement
Source the majority of the materials and resources from within South Carolina from contractors who aren’t related to any member of the house or senate by blood or financial arrangement
I’d say, go for it.

Will: can you give us a follow-up article that assess if this type of thing has ever been tried in other states? I know alot of state pension funds can invest in real estate generally -in diversified holding funds, such as REITs, but singular asset holdings are another animal entirely. Sounds like the kind of thing that deep blue states with bad credit ratings and steep unpaid pension fund obligations pursue, although on paper it could conceivably be workable. But so was the Monticello nuclear plant expansion…so the devil is in the details.

Wouldnt renaming any of the buildings take a 2/3 vote of both chambers under the heritage act?

Can we just enforce the oath of office they all take to “honor and support the Constitution”? That means LIMITED Government. Yeah, call me crazy, gullible, heartless, etc. I’ll gladly wear all those labels in exchange for such a miracle.
