The family of a 20-year-old South Carolina woman has scheduled a prayer vigil this week. Jessica Barnes of Pendleton, S.C. has been missing since August 1, 2024 and her family is seeking the support of the community as questions persist about where the young woman has been for the past month and a half.
A prayer vigil for Barnes has been scheduled for this Thursday night (September 19, 2024) at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
Barnes was last seen in Pendleton wearing an orange t-shirt, dark jean shorts, flip-flops and a black backpack. Her mother, Cecelia Varvara, told our media outlet she requested a wellness check when her daughter stopped answering her calls and messages sent to her husband, Brandon Barnes, were not returned.
Pendleton is a town of approximately 3,700 people located in Anderson County roughly 25 miles southwest of Greenville. It is one of the few rural Palmetto State municipalities which has seen an uptick in its population growth in recent years.
Here is a flyer from the town’s police department issued in connection with Barnes’ disappearance…

Neighbors of the couple – who married in January of this year – reportedly told Varvara that Barnes insisted his wife had traveled to Romania to visit her father.
“He’s lying, non-stop, whenever he’s opening his mouth,” she said.
Varvara is extremely concerned for her daughter’s well-being as she is aware of allegations of physical abuse against her purportedly involving Barnes. No alleged assaults involving Barnes were reported to police and no charges have been filed in connection with the allegations.
Jessica’s family planned the prayer vigil – which will be held at Pendleton Square – in hopes of rallying the community with “hopes that through prayer and unity, Jessica can be brought home safely.”
FITSNews reached out to Pendleton’s police chief Robert Crosby for an update on the status of the investigation. According to Crosby, his department will be providing an update later today.
In the meantime, anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jessica Barnes is encouraged to contact Crosby at 864-646-9409 or via email at robertc@townofpendleton.org.

Brandon Barnes has domestic abuse charges in the state of Maine as a result abuse he committed to the mother of his two children he was in a relationship with. He also abused his young daughter .
