Seventh-term U.S. congressman Jeff Duncan of South Carolina became the focus of intense public criticism after he and his new fiancée – a Washington, D.C. lobbyist with whom he cheated on his former wife – posted an online gift registry ahead of their impending nuptials.
To say the online forum did not yield the traditional best wishes for the bride-to-be and congratulations for the groom would be an understatement.
“Once a cheater, always a cheater,” one respondent wrote on the online guest book. “The thing is, how can either of you be trusted?”
“What a damn joke!” another exclaimed. “May you choke on the wine and each get an STD.”
Ouch …

“I hear a trip to hell is very expensive,” yet another wrote. “Good luck raising the funds.”
The harsh invective appears to have forced Duncan and his intended, Liz Williams, to pull the plug on the registry – which was originally posted on HoneyFund.com.
“Questions were (also) raised over the legality of a congressman accepting gifts,” a source close to the situation told this media outlet.
Duncan recently became engaged to Williams – a Jackson, Mississippi native and former National Rifle Association (NRA) lobbyist who has allegedly been involved in multiple extramarital extracurriculars in our nation’s capital.

At the time Duncan and Williams began their relationship, the socially conservative congressman was still touting his devotion to Melody Hodges Duncan – his former wife. However, divorce filings (.pdf) submitted by Melody Duncan not only exposed the affair with Williams but asserted Duncan committed adultery with “at least one other woman.”
Duncan was also reportedly been sending electronic payments to at least one of these women since news of his affairs became public.
Duncan his best to put the kibosh on this scandal, but the damage was done. The drama ultimately forced the 58-year-old Greenville, S.C. native, to announce earlier this year that he would not seek an eighth term representing voters of the third congressional district – a staunchly conservative enclave which includes parts of the Palmetto Upstate and a broad swath of rural areas bordering Georgia.
Of interest? The latest dust-up involving Duncan took place on the day before two Republican candidates were scheduled to face one another in the Republican runoff for the seat he will vacate in January 2025.
Keep it tuned to this media outlet for the outcome of that race … as well as any new developments involving the soon-to-be former congressman.

Maybe we should post the 10 Commandments in the offices of GOP representatives?
Each day they could put a check by the ones they have not broken (that is easier than the other way around, fewer checks. With Trump I think that is two, but giving him credit for not breaking two is just speculation. who knows?
I have no doubt that the Republicans of the Third Congressional District would have handily re-elected adulterer Duncan to another term had he offered for fe-election. To his credit, his lover isn’t a porn star and he wasn’t convicted of a felony in an attempt to keep the affair quiet. But hey, what’s a little adultery and lying among the candidates for any office to these staunch evangelicals of SC’s Bible Belt.
What a hosebag.
