Citadel CDV Story: An Update

Suspect identified, manhunt underway …

Earlier this week, we reported exclusively on a horrific criminal domestic violence case involving a graduate of The Citadel, South Carolina’s government-run military college.

Mandie Brillhart, a 2012 graduate of the school, was the victim in this case according to Doug Bridges, a Columbia, S.C. real estate agent who is helping to raise money to provide for her in the aftermath of the alleged assault.

“As if brutally beating her was not enough the man poured gasoline on the mother of his child and lit a match to her,” Bridges wrote on his blog.  “Flames covered her body and did severe damage to her feet and legs up to her knees.  Egregious is not a strong enough word to describe this heinous act which appears to have been premeditated.  The ‘Man’ as he self-described himself, accused the mother of his child of cheating on him … that was excuse for nearly killing the precious woman.”

According to our sources, police are seeking 32-year-old Charles Durell Nethercutt in connection with the attack on Brillhart.

Nethercutt has yet to be identified by police in connection with Brillhart, but authorities in Florence County, S.C. have issued a warrant for his arrest on the charge of attempted murder – describing alleged criminal acts consistent with those perpetrated against Brillhart.

Other law enforcement sources have confirmed to us that Nethercutt is the suspect in the attack against Brillhart.

Furthermore, Bridges has posted links to local media reports about Nethercutt’s arrest on his social media pages.

Nethercutt is a light-skinned black male listed by authorities as 6-foot-0, 230 pounds.  He has short black hair and brown eyes – and tattoos on both of his arms.

Let’s hope is captured soon and made to answer for these charges …

Individuals with information on Nethercutt are encouraged to contact the Florence County, S.C. sheriff’s department at 843-665-2121, ext. 317 or Pee Dee Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
