Hillary Clinton “Went Low” Against Barack Obama

“THEY GO LOW, CLINTONS GO LOWER …”

As GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump continues to battle against the Democratic party, the “Republican” party, the White House and America’s “in the tank” legacy media, one of the uniting broadsides against his candidacy has been Michelle Obama‘s mantra “when they go low, we go high.”

Of course this nifty turn-of-phrase ignores the depths to which the Clinton campaign, the Democratic party and the media sank in destroying the candidacy of independent socialist U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders.

It also ignores Clinton’s viciously racist attacks on Obama’s husband, outgoing U.S. president Barack Obama.

These attacks have been brought into clearer focus by the latest Wikileaks revelations – which show pro-Clinton pollsters testing some exceedingly nasty, decidedly non-“progressive” messages against Obama back in 2008.

“Obama’s father was a Muslim and Obama grew up among Muslims in the world’s most populous Islamic country,” one of the poll statements noted.

Another statement sought voter input on how “Obama described his former use of cocaine as using ‘a little blow,'” while still another sought to determine the extent to which Obama’s most liberal positions could be used against him.

“Obama is ranked as one of the ten most liberal members of the Senate because of his support of issues like gay adoption,” the survey stated.

Additionally, the poll tested whether Obama should have worn American flag lapel pins – and whether his policy of talking to “terrorist nations like Iran and North Korea without preconditions” was wise.

Astoundingly, former Bill Clinton political advisor Paul Begala had the audacity to suggest this polling was done to help Obama in a general election – even though the group that conducted the surveys was shut down after Obama won the nomination.

“That was a draft poll questionnaire that tested potential right-wing attacks on Obama, to help prepare to defend him,” Begala told The New York Post‘s Daniel Halper.

Yeah … right.

Trump’s campaign pounced on the revelation.

“This breaking news report that Clinton allies were poll-testing Obama’s ‘ties to Islam’ and his prior use of cocaine during the 2008 primary is yet another example of Clinton taking the low road in order to smear her political opponents,” a Trump aide said in a statement.  “Clinton and her campaign’s ‘holier than thou’ attitude cannot hide their past treatment of anyone who dares stand in the way of their political ambitions.”

Obama’s foreign “roots” were clearly a major focus of Clinton’s 2008 Democratic candidacy.

“His roots to basic American values and culture are at best limited,” Clinton’s top 2008 strategist wrote in anticipation of the primary election against Obama.  “I cannot imagine America electing a president during a time of war who is not at his center fundamentally American in his thinking and his values.”

For a more in-depth look at the extent to which Clinton’s 2008 campaign went after Obama on this issue, check out this excellent investigative piece from John Nolte published last September by Breitbart.

For the record, this website has consistently rejected and repudiated “Birtherism,” including during the heat of the 2012 presidential election.  We’ve always felt it was a sideshow and said so – even when Trump engaged in it.

The issue here isn’t birtherism, though, it’s yet another example of Clintonian hypocrisy.
