RADIO IRAN SAYS U.S. AIRSTRIKE HAS KILLED AL-BAGHDADI …
|| By FITSNEWS || A week after a British paper said the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) had been gravely wounded during an American air strike, Radio Iran is reporting that he has expired from his wounds.
ISIS caliph Ibrahim – a.k.a. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – has been rumored dead on several prior occasions, though, and there has been no immediate confirmation of the report. In fact American authorities – who had no clue al-Baghdadi had even been wounded in the air strike – moved quickly to debunk the speculation about the enemy du jour in its ongoing “War on Terror.”
In the aftermath of al-Baghdadi’s injuries, ISIS has reportedly been run by Abu Ala al-Afri – a former physics teacher from just south of Mosul, Iraq and disciple of former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Numerous ISIS leaders have been killed by U.S.-led air strikes in recent months – including Abu Muslim al-Turkmani, a former Iraqi army leader believed to have been the organization’s top military leader.
Ibrahim himself was reportedly injured during a March 18 air strike on a convoy of vehicles near the border of Syria. The attack took place near the village of Umm al-Rous in al-Baaj – a district of Nineveh. Three individuals were reportedly killed in the bombing– although American military leaders had no idea the ISIS “caliph” was among the wounded.
In fact U.S. officials continue to maintain there is no evidence to support rumors of al-Baghdadi’s injuries – let alone his death.
Baghdadi was detained and inexplicably released from U.S. custody in 2009 because his captors did not view him as a threat, even though he allegedly told them he would “see them in New York” upon his release.
