Supporters of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (RINO-S.C.) tell FITS they have received word that Nancy Mace will indeed run against the two-term incumbent in the 2014 U.S. Senate primary. These sources tell us Mace’s campaign announcement is imminent – possibly coming as soon as this weekend.

“She’s running,” one of them told our founding editor. “Game on.”

Two of the Graham aides tell FITS they were informed of Mace’s intentions as part of a pending national news story.

Mace – a Lowcountry mother/ businesswoman and the first woman to ever graduate from The Citadel military college – has not confirmed these reports. However she’s been rumored as a potential challenger to Graham for several weeks – during which time she has stoked speculation by giving numerous media interviews and writing opinion pieces critical of Graham’s left-of-center record.

Mace obviously isn’ the only one looking to knock off Graham next summer. A pair of social conservatives – S.C. Sen. Lee Bright (R-Spartanburg) and former congressional candidate Richard Cash – are also running against him. However Mace appears to have a leg up so far when it comes to rallying support from big “anti-Graham” donors.

“Game on,” indeed …

In addition to doing marketing and design work for this website, Mace’s Charleston, S.C.-based firm has advised numerous Palmetto State politicians including U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney and State Sen. Tom Davis.

UPDATE: Looks like Graham’s sources were well-informed. Mace has confirmed her intention to challenge Graham to The Daily Caller.

So is the growing up related to Mace’s impending campaign? Knowing that she will be linked to you and your site, are you trying to clean it up so as not to hurt her chances?

Ha! No … Mace will be tattooed for her FITS affiliation whether we clean the site up or not.

Do a Google search of the terms “”Site designed and maintained by The Mace Group, LLC” and look at the politicians that have hired The Mace Group to build their campaign websites. If her affiliation with fitsnews.com hurts her campaign, would all those other politicians not also suffer come damage?

Here’s one for you—–

“Senator Bluster, what’s the election today for?”

“Well, it is to determine whether we shall have a convention to nominate delegates who will be voted on as to whether they will attend a caucus which will decide whether we shall have a primary to determine whether the people want to vote on this same question again next year.”

YallCalmDown August 1, 2013 at 11:29 am

Come damage? What are you trying to say here? Freudian slip, perhaps?

Reply
Centrist View August 1, 2013 at 1:47 pm

Oops.

Regarding “some damage” that other politicians might suffer, if Lindsey Graham brings this up during the campaign as a reason not to vote for Nancy Mace, then is he implying that voters should also punish those politician, and that they should suffer guilt by association? Would he state that voters should vote against Tim Scott, Mick Zais, Mick Mulvaney, Tom Davis, etc. because their websites were “….designed and maintained by The Mace Group, LLC”?

This could make for some interesting campaign rhetoric leading up to the SC GOP primary in 2014.

Keeping a squinted eyeball on this amazing transformation, and following events and speculation, Shifty has a different perspective. Shifty thinks that the friendly separation is to help both Nancy and Will. Should Nancy prevail in the election then Will is in an excellent position to promote, as an “independent and unbiased voice,” her agendas for the folks of South Carolina. Shifty sees this as an intelligent and workable plan. It’s a win-win for both of them.

Not a fan of Graham, but can Mace really compete? What’s her record, other than being the anti-Graham in some speeches and articles. I know, I know – that’s enough for some folks. But I’m not at all convinced that it’s enough to beat Graham.

I do think it will negatively affect her, although it honestly shouldn’t. Still, if Graham’s going to win, it is going to be because enough of the stupid vote backs him. One little thing like that isn’t going to be a game changer. Either SC is tired of his shit, or can’t get enough of it. One or the other.

Reply
Cicero August 1, 2013 at 12:13 pm

I know that Graham has done things to piss off some of the more conservative elements in SC. He’s pissed me off some, too. Leaving aside whether he “should” get reelected, the man is an able politician and has a good team. He also has millions and millions of dollars NOW and can raise more. Anything can happen, but I’m guessing he’s 85% guaranteed a return ticket back to DC.

Many people accuse the Libertarian / Tea Party types as being naive about politics. This is just one more example of it. Even if she had a reasonable chance; which she doesn’t, this statewide election will divide a bunch simpleton’s votes between Idiot Bright, Clown Cash, and this unknown. It is a slam dunk for Graham.
