Three weeks ago we wrote a story about Obamacare’s health insurance cooperatives being in serious trouble.

Well guess what …

According to the Associated Press, Consumers’ Choice Health Insurance Co. – a South Carolina cooperative formed under Barack Obama‘s so-called “Affordable Care Act” – will not sell policies in 2016 due to its “financially hazardous condition.”

“I did not have the confidence that this company would be a viable entity throughout the entire year of 2016,” Ray Farmer, director of the S.C. Department of Insurance, told the wire service.

That means nearly 70,000 South Carolinians who were supposed to be covered by the coop will have to figure something else out.

Consumers’ Choice is the ninth Obamacare cooperative to go under across the country …

The federal government pumped billions of dollars in taxpayer loans into these coops, citing their “high probability of financial viability.”

Oops …

This is only the tip of the iceberg.

Visited my dentist yesterday, he told me his monthly medical insurance for his staff has doubled to $4000.00, and he has a small staff, but a big ego and a great smile.

Anyone who thought Obamacare was supposed to be a viable, successful option is drunk on the Kool-Aide. When it totally tanks the Libs are going to throw their hands in the air and say well we just have to go single payer now.

Yeah, right, that’s why 17 million people have coverage. So a co-op failed. A private insurer will step in. I thought you liked private enterprise.

The Republicans need to make an issue of this disaster in their campaigning and be ready to supply a reasonable alternative.

If they would stop paying attention to the left and and play offense instead of taking the Dems and the MSM seriously and be on the defense on most issues, maybe they could make some headway..

No ideas October 23, 2015 at 2:57 pm

The only alternatives I’ve heard out of them is the same old same old. Tax credits, health savings account and selling across state lines. Don’t believe any of those options are going to help out most people who can’t afford health insurance. Carson’s plan is nuts. He wants to do away with all govt healthcare (including Medicare and Medicaid) and replace it with health saving accounts which the govt would contribute $2000 a year for every person in the US.

That should of been done years ago. They need to learn how to compromise with others. They did it to themselves.

I know, after I typed it, I recognized it was open for interpretation. That is why I added his more commendable attributes of ego and smile, did not want to sell him SHORT.

I don’t believe a word that you posted. Not sure what size his “small staff” is – How many employees was he covering for $2,000.000 per month and now doubled to $4,000.00 per month? Your post does not have the ring of truth to. I administer a small group health plan for our company and our premiums here in SC have not doubled – our annual premium increase this past year was about 7% (seven percent) – the smallest it had been in several years. I call you a liar – as I know from your previous posts on here that you would post ANYTHING in your little attempts to discredit President Obama. Liar.

DC – ’61/’62 — I met a British girl who lived in an all-female apartment building, and there were also all-male apartment buildings. Parties going on all the time….

I loved DC, got to see everything important. Just to show how things have changed: My girl took the afternoons off for the last two weeks I was there and we did all the sights together. OK, we went to the White House and in about 30 minutes were inside on a tour!

There were weekend concerts on a barge docked down behind the rear of the Lincoln Memorial where we could sit on the steps, smooch, and enjoy great music!

We were never afraid to go anywhere at night — what a time, and paid for by MY COUNTRY..!!

Just about every weekend my buddies and I would visit the Washington Monument and would walk up and then walk down — boy, I wish I were in that shape again!

Then, when I was being transferred to the Mediterranean, the Navy “lost” me at Brooklyn Navy Yard for THREE WEEKS IN NYC..!! I was allowed every other night off and I found TIMES SQUARE..!! That was spectacular for a guy who left the exciting, jumping streets of Columbia in 1960. I had three weekends off and did all the major sights and tours (thanks again to MY COUNTRY!)

All Right, Rocky, that’s enough bedtime stories for this Friday — sleep well tonight (don’t forget to share stories with Mrs. Rocky!)

Did you ever spend any time in Norfolk? People told me I would hate it before I went there. I absolutely loved it, once I arrived and figured my way around town.
Reminds me of a joke…
Do you know the difference between a pick pocket and a peeping-tom?

One snatches watches, the other one watches snatches.
I know, it is old and you have probably heard it.

Thanks, it’s one joke I had forgotten, but will add to my file. Yes, I was assigned to the USS Intrepid in Norfolk and had some great times, but I only went into town to catch the bus. Greyhound and Trailways each had a “military only” run that left Norfolk about 10:30 am on Friday and ended in (hallelujah”) — COLUMBIA. about 8 pm ..!! Sunday night they left Columbia about 5:30 pm on Sunday night and ended in (hallelujah!) the piers on the naval base — right to my front door at about 5:30 am just in time for reveille and breakfast..!! The cost for a round -trip was only $ 25.00 !! This was in 1964 Jan – Jun when I was separated. I was taking that trip three times a month to get to my German bride!

I hated Norfolk and each weekend went to the same bus station to take a ride to Port Authority station in NYC. I don’t remember the price but the year was around 1968/9. I was stationed on the USS Independence at the time and (physically) separated from my British wife and children. I arranged a swap on to another ship (USS Springfield) which was being forward deployed to Italy. Europe. After that, no more bus rides and no more Norfolk, until many years later.

You mistake “right-wing” for the RINO. The true “right-wing” beliefs are conservative beliefs. i.e. Gov’t doesn’t create jobs, the private sector does, etc.

No true conservative principles align with anything related to Goldman Sachs, and any other bailout. In fact, bailouts and chrony capitalism couldn’t be further from the conservative paradigm.
