Businesswoman Elizabeth Colbert Busch will kick off the general election on Thursday with a visit to the Island Oaks Living Center, where she will take on former Congressman Mark Sanford’s dismissive comments about her accomplishments – as well as discuss her commonsense solutions to the country’s problems.

Former Congressman Sanford dismissed Elizabeth entirely, saying that “right now in essence, we’re running against Stephen Colbert.” And Beaufort County GOP Chair Jerry Hallman said Elizabeth is competitive because “she’s not a bad looking lady.”

“I was disappointed to hear about Mark’s comment. He has known me and my work for years,” Elizabeth Colbert Busch said. “I worked my up to Director of Sales and Marketing for a major shipping company, and I am now part of a major economy development effort to renovate the navy yard. If those successes can convince Mark and his allies that a woman is capable of leading, I don’t know what will.”
