South Carolina Man Arrested For Threatening To Kill Nancy Mace

A South Carolina trans activist who threatened to kill U.S. congresswoman Nancy Mace has been arrested by state authorities, sources familiar with the status of the investigation confirmed to FITSNews.

Samuel Theodore Cain, 19, of Greenville, S.C., was arrested by agents of the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) on Thursday – May 15, 2025 – and charged with threatening the life of a public official.

Cain, who goes by the alias “Roxie Wolfe,” posted several weeks ago that he was “going to assassinate representative Nancy Mace with a gun” – insisting he was “being 100% dead ass,” i.e. serious.

News of Cain’s arrest was first reported by The Post Millennial. According to Andy Ngo, a senior editor at the publication, Cain was interviewed by federal investigators last month but no charges were filed at that time.

During questioning, Cain reportedly told the feds he “didn’t mean it” – referring to the death threat against Mace.

According to a probable cause affidavit accompanying the warrant for his arrest (.pdf), Cain “admitted to authoring and posting the threat” during his interview with federal investigators.

“Cain therefore unlawfully, knowingly and willingly delivered or conveyed a threat to take the life of a public official,” the affidavit noted.

Cain isn’t the first trans activist to wish violence upon Mace. According to Ngo, 24-year-old Venus Andromeda Boyle of Lakeside, California posted a video last fall in which he threatened to bash Mace’s head into the bathroom floor if he ever got the opportunity.

“I hope that one day I do find you in that women’s bathroom, and I grab you by your ratty looking f*cking hair and drag your face down to the floor while I repeatedly bash it in until the blood’s everywhere and you’re dead,” Boyle said in the video.

“Prepare to die, Rep. Nancy Mace,” Boyle noted in another post – posting the image of a knife next to a picture of the congresswoman.

These threats – and others like them – came as Mace was launching her “Hold the Line” campaign to keep biological men out of women’s restrooms.

“The trans movement is fueling violence,” Mace said in a statement responding to Cain’s arrest. “Capitol Police and SLED moved fast on this death threat, and they should. No one should face murder threats for calling out radical gender ideology. This isn’t just about me. It’s an attack on free speech, rule of law, and anyone brave enough to speak the truth about biology.”

“We won’t back down. We won’t stop fighting to protect women and kids,” Mace added. “I am deeply grateful for the U.S. Capitol Police and SLED for keeping me, my family and my employees safe.”

Threatening the life of a public official is a felony under the S.C. Code of Laws § 16-3-1040. It carries a penalty of up to five years imprisonment and a fine of up to $5,000.

Cain was booked at the Greenville County detention center. His case will be prosecuted by the office of S.C. thirteenth circuit solicitor Walt Wilkins. A bond hearing for Cain has been scheduled for 9:00 a.m. EDT on Friday (May 16, 2025).

As with anyone accused of committing any crime, Cain is considered innocent until proven guilty by our criminal justice system – or until such time as he may wish to enter some form of allocution in connection with a plea agreement with prosecutors related to any of the charges filed against him.

Fifty-three years ago today, in Laurel, Maryland, former Alabama governor George Wallace was shot four times by a wound-be assassin as he campaigned for the Democrat presidential nomination. The attack left him paralyzed for life from the waist down.

Moments after the shooting, then-California governor Ronald Reagan was handed a notice of the assassination attempt by his press aide. Off-the-cuff, Reagan offered his thoughts on the situation.

“Isn’t this again something of what we’ve been talking about?” Reagan said. “We’ve had such tragedies in the last several years in the area of political candidates and officeholders of this kind. And isn’t this an outgrowth of the hatred that seems to have been injected into what has in the past been simply normal competition and normal rivalry and certainly election-year emotionalism and all?”

“But if something is to be done about this kind of tragedy for anyone, isn’t it necessary that all of us review our own attitudes and say yes – it is possible for men and women of goodwill to differ, to have opposing viewpoints, to discuss and debate them and perhaps never to come to agreement on them… but as God is in his heaven do we have to hate each other to the point that people with less balance are stimulated to deeds of this kind?” Reagan asked.

Nine years later, Reagan was shot and wounded by a would-be assassin. And just last year, there were two attempts on the life of Donald Trump.

No matter what you believe – and no matter how fervently you believe it – there is no place for political violence in our Republic. Those who engage in political violence – or threaten it – should be held accountable for their actions.
