Former U.S. president Donald Trump may be the convicted felon, but incumbent Joe Biden is the one who has taken the hit in the polls – and he’s running out of time to flip the proverbial script with voters.
According to the latest polling averages from FiveThirtyEight, 56.7 percent of America disapproves of the current president – compared to only 37.5 percent who approve. That’s a record disapproval gap of 19.2 percent with just five months to go before election day.
Biden has been “underwater” with voters – i.e. he’s had higher disapproval than approval ratings – since September 1, 2021, according to FiveThirtyEight. He’s been “underwater” by more than double digits since May 14, 2023.
That is sustained bad news, people … and it has consistently shown itself in polling data from the battleground states critical to Biden’s reelection.
Since Trump’s conviction ten days ago, Biden has seen his disapproval gap climb from 17.4 percent to its new record high of 19.2 percent.

Just to be clear: Voters are not enamored with Trump, either. FiveThirtyEight‘s rolling assessment of his favorability is also terrible, with only 41.6 percent of the country saying it had a favorable impression of Trump compared to 53.7 percent who viewed him unfavorably. That’s an unfavorable gap of 12.1 percent – although the numbers haven’t moved since his conviction.
Biden’s struggles among Democrats’ core constituencies – blacks, Latinos and Gen Z/ millennial voters – are fast approaching the point of insurmountability. According to a recent GenForward survey conducted by the University of Chicago, only a third of Gen Z/ millennial voters currently support Biden – who leads Trump by only 2 percentage points among this critical Democratic demographic.
Meanwhile, Biden’s lead among black voters – while still commanding – is below historical norms (and below current levels of black Democratic partisan identification). According to a recent Pew Center survey, 18 percent of black voters say they are backing Trump – which, assuming it held, would be more than twice the level of support he received in 2020.
Among Latino voters, Trump is faring even better – with Biden’s prospects likely to be further eroded by the potential addition of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to multiple swing state ballots, according to a new Vote Latino survey released just last week.
Is there any good news for Biden in the polls these days? No, not really … which is why speculation regarding a potential Democratic coup at the top of the ticket continues raging unabated. Also, all of these polls were taken before Biden experienced several additional “senior moments” during a D-Day remembrance event in Normandy, France.

Trump is filling stadiums, raising record money, people are even having large boat parades in support of Trump. I’ve yet to see a Biden boat parade… Since you have to have a job to buy a boat (not a government program for boat handouts) I’m sure we won’t see a Biden boat parade.

While I have never approved of Biden, my disapproval of Biden in no way means that I approve of Trump.
Whatever the outcome in November, our country is royally screwed.

How is the country screwed if Biden wins?
The country is screwed by a Biden victory due to the continued march of late stage capitalism via status quo neoliberal policies continuing to obliterate the working class.
The ship is still sinking, even if Trump isn’t blasting new holes into it.
The conservatives are really building their delusions of grandeur ahead of time so when Trump inevitably loses to a doddering old fool yet crime family mastermind the “muh stolen election” cryfest will be ten times bigger.

Regardless of your political leanings, Joe Biden is both mentally and physically in BAD shape and his “support” people, including his wife, should be ashamed of themselves. He is in worse shape than my MIL who is in long term care. Elder abuse, pure and simple, at this point.
