News and notes from the Gamecock football program …

DEEBO SAMUEL HONORED

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel of the University of South Carolina football team has been named the Southeastern Conference (SEC)’s special teams player of the week for the second week in a row.

Samuel, a 6-0, 215-pound native of Inman, S.C., returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown during the Gamecocks 31-13 victory over SEC East rival Missouri last week.  The previous week, Samuel returned the season’s opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown against NC State.

The junior speedster also scored on a 25-yard rushing touchdown against the Tigers – and hauled in a pair of touchdown receptions the previous week against the Wolfpack.

Is anybody going to kick to him again?  We’d advise against it …
