POLITICIANS MOCKED …

As politicians take steps to address the latest round of violence in Myrtle Beach, S.C., one local cartoonist is lampooning their efforts.

Ed Wilson, editorial cartoonist for Waccamaw Publishers, Inc., has a new strip out this week mocking Myrtle Beach mayor John Rhodes – whose efforts to combat the city’s crime problem (here and here) have left a lot to be desired.

Rhodes and several of his allies on city council are up for reelection on November 7 – with candidate filing for those posts scheduled to open on August 24 and close on September 8.

In addition to Rhodes, councilmen Mike Lowder, Randal Wallace and Wayne Gray are all up for reelection – should they choose to run.

Will they face challenges?  More than likely, yes … in fact we would be quite surprised to see Gray run for reelection given the scandal he is staring down.

Anyway, we appreciate Wilson letting us run his cartoon, and we appreciate his media outlet for its coverage of these issues.
