Arlington, VA — President Donald Trump today signed a new executive order requiring that for every new federal regulation implemented, two must be rescinded. The order also stipulates important cost caps and transparency guidelines for proposed regulations.

After more than 600 major rules at costs exceeding $700 billion since 2009, the Federal Register has grown at record levels.

Freedom Partners Vice President of Policy Andy Koenig issued the following statement:

“After eight years and an onslaught of regulations from the Obama administration, it’s time to remove these barriers to opportunity. This latest move by the White House is a good start. President Trump and his team should work with agencies and Congress to make sure that this order is followed and eventually becomes law.”

Freedom Partners and its coalition allies continue to urge Senate action on key regulatory reform measures to help ignite economic growth and reduce barriers to opportunity for all Americans, including the Regulatory Accountability Act of 2017, the Midnight Rules Relief Act of 2017, and the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act.

The ‘Roadmap to Repeal’ from Freedom Partners represents a systematic, three-step approach to repealing some of the most harmful regulations and holding lawmakers accountable. The full report can be read here.
