JEB BUSH SAID … WHAT?

Hurricane Katrina was a national tragedy – a case study in government ineptitude that cost nearly 2,000 people their lives.  It’s also been a bum deal for every woman in America named “Katrina,” who now must brace for the inevitable “oh, like the storm?” question upon revealing their given name.

Yes, morons. Like the storm.

If some frustration is detected on this subject, consider this: Our founding editor’s wife – the lovely Mrs. Sic Willie – is named Katrina.  Will Folks is also notoriously tight with S.C. Senator Katrina Shealy, whose exploits at the S.C. State House generally earn this website’s support.

And of course there’s our ongoing crush on Katrina Pierson – the Texas-based political diva who recently joined the presidential campaign of Donald Trump.

Anyway …

KATRINA SHEALY
KATRINA SHEALY

Earlier this week Jeb Bush – one of our least favorite 2016 presidential candidates (and judging by the polls, one of your least favorite candidates, too) – paid a visit to South Carolina.  During his campaign swing, he referred to Katrina Shealy – one of his top Palmetto State supporters – as “Hurricane Katrina.”

“When I was governor, in 16 months we had eight hurricanes and four tropical storms,” Bush said. “One of them was called Katrina.  I don’t know why your great state senator reminds me of a hurricane.”

“But she does,” Bush added.

“She’s strong and she’s fierce, and she’s solving problems for you at the state capitol,” he continued. “You should be honored to have her as your elected official. I hope you agree with that. That should be your nickname. In the Bush family, we always give out nicknames. Yours is now Hurricane Katrina.”

Called out for his “insensitivity,” Bush later referred to the nickname as “a joke.”

Obviously Bush’s lackluster polling means his verbal gaffes are less consequential than they otherwise might be, but we’re struggling to see what’s so wrong with this remark.

Seriously: Compare Bush’s reference to Shealy as “Hurricane Katrina” with S.C. governor Nikki Haley‘s infamous 2012 gaffe – in which she referred to a massive security breach at the S.C. Department of Revenue as “(her) hurricane Hugo.”

That’s a reference to the 1989 storm that slammed into the Palmetto State – killing 27 people and doing $8 billion in damage (for those of you keeping score at home, Hugo remains the sixth-costliest hurricane of all-time).

Which reference is worse?

Eh …

Bush was trying to pay a woman a compliment.  Haley, on the other hand, was attempting to elevate her crisis management profile (you know … as opposed to actually managing the crisis).  Both remarks were pretty stupid, but Bush’s comments don’t seem to warrant a full-fledged freakout.

Of course maybe a “freakout” is what Bush is looking for. After all, political incorrectness is clearly something GOP voters appreciate.

It sure was dumb…particularly, if he’s supposed to be ‘the smartest Bush’.

Not really. If he’s smarter than G. H. W. Bush and/or G. W. Bush he’s in pretty rarefied air.

God sent Moses to meet with the presidential candidates and then report back to Heaven. Moses returned to Heaven. God reviewed his report and noticed that there was no mention of Jeb Bush. God asked, “Why didn’t you meet with Mr. Bush?” Moses answered, “The last time I spoke with a bush I starved in the desert for forty years!”

When did Florida have to put up more protection than an umbrella or raincoat for Katrina?

Katrina made its first landfall as a Cat. 1 hurricane between Hallandale Beach and Aventura. While not the monster that hit New Orleans it’s more dangerous than an umbrella and raincoat.

Jeb is a jerk. He needs to drop out like at least four or five others. The establishment has been found out and the people are reacting as they should. (Kick the bums out.) We will see how this plays as the campaign progresses but now it is looking good for the USA and bad for RINOs.
As for our Hurricane Katrina, she is still my favorite senator. A little too establishment minded but that , I hope, will pass. A big dose of Exlax usually dose the job. LOL

Hi Rogue! I understand that you look at Katrina as a friend, but I hope you get her a carton of Ex-Lax soon. She seems to be getting worse with her endorsements and self-serving political blather, rather than better. If you can keep her from sitting on the laps of Greg Hembree snd creeper Larry Martin, that might help, too.

Dear Mickey, Ashley, Linda or whoever you are! Katrina Shealy has never set in Larry Martin or Greg Hembree’s lap and the fact that she doesn’t think people who beat their spouse and get convicted of Domestic Violence should get to Possess a weapon, you think She does – who cares what you think. You are so “Corrupt” you think it’s a bigger crime to abuse your dog than your spouse or hunting at night is a better reason to loose your gun rights. Every now and then I read the nice things you say about her and I wonder what kind of family you must have come from that would raise such a fowl mouth nasty soul but then I realize it can’t possibly be your parents fault because they can’t be that bad. I know she never did anything personally to you because She works hard to help people not hurt them. I am not sure who could possibly every be elected to public office that you would like because I don’t think you like anyone. You do have a horribly cruel spirit. I would say I’d pray for you but I know how you are – you would just mock that and make fun of prayer. It is really sad that you are the way you are. Maybe 2016 will be a better year for you and you can stop hating everyone. Happy New Year Corrupt!!

Hello troll! To start off, Katrina was as expected, a drastic improvement over Jakie. Sadly, as with most politicians and three-week-old milk, she has begun to turn. She has become the lap dog of the likes of Greg Hembree snd that creeper, Larry Martin. They have taught her how to “go along to get along, and the all-important art of climbing the ladder of politics to benefit yourself, rather than representing the people who elected her.

Her endorsements of a candidate for Sheriff who has many of the same connections and ties as his predecessor, who is now in Federal prison, as well as her endorsement of a member of the treasonous Bush klan, exhibit just how ethically challenged she has become since entering the Senate. People warned me she was “Jake with a skirt” when I supported her candidacy in 2012. I said then that Job One was unseating Jakie. I also said and maintain that if she started to act like Jake or Nikki, we needed to remove her ample bottom from OUR Senate seat, just as we did with Jake, before it became cemented to that seat. I believe 2016 is time for that removal.

I’m sorry if you cannot see that.

Troll?
What makes me any more a troll than you? You hate anyone who doesn’t March to your drum – what ever stupid drum that is this week. You have no idea what you are talking about. The Greg Hembree / Larry Martin thing is so funny i can hardly type it. She and Hembree don’t even get along. That shows how much you know! You are a lot of mouth without a brain. You have no more followed what she has done in office than you probably wipe when you go. You probably still call Mama to do it for you. And the fact that you think she has an Ample bottom is even funnier – you don’t know what she looks like either. You are undoubtedly a good old boy male jerk. If it is your seat run for it. I am sure she is willing to take you on. She works hard – all the time . She will continue to do it. Enough with you. Too much wasted energy on stupidity! If you really knew what you were talking about it sound be obvious. You wouldn’t be happy if Jesus Christ won YOUR Senate seat!

An eighth tier Presidential Candidate commenting on a fourth tier State Senator – gee

If you want some real news, why not trek down to Riverbanks Zoo, grab a monkey by its tail and count the number of hairs within an 1/2 radius of its asshole

That would be newsworthy if not for content, certainly execution

Can you read? Maybe not so this would be a stupid conversation. Do you follow child welfare, have you followed the veteran legislation she has passed or the legislation for senior citizens? Maybe the personal income tax legislation? You can always go look it up but that would take effort in going to a website now wouldn’t it and heaven forbid you do that when you can just make comments!

First you bitch that ‘political correctness’ is out of control. Then you beat up on a politician for not being correct- too insensitive you complain. Maybe you’re the reason for political correctness in the first place.

Eh. It was an abysmally stupid joke, given how it reminds people of his brother’s total ineptitude in dealing with that epic storm — before, during, and after the fact. How did you miss this obvious fact?

“Fact”, here, meaning “My Opinion,” of course. But I’m right.

While you may think that Jebs stupid ass comment was innocuous, try telling that to the families of the 1833 persons who died in the hurricane, which caused some $623 million dollars in damage.

You are about as bright as Jeb.
