|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. minority leader Todd Rutherford scored a big win this week … or so it seemed.

Days after the veteran Democratic lawmaker criticized Clemson University head football coach Dabo Swinney for a scheduled appearance before a social conservative group which opposes gay marriage, Swinney backed out of the event.

Swinney’s decision left the group in question – the Palmetto Family Council – scrambling to defend its reputation.

Ball game to Rutherford … right?  Not so fast …

Now it’s Rutherford’s turn to play defense …

According to the lawmaker’s legislative biography, he’s a board member at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia, S.C.  And yes, Rutherford’s church not only refuses to perform gay weddings – it teaches that homosexuality is a sin.

That discrepancy resulted in Rutherford getting called out on social media …

Rutherford’s spokesman Tyler Jones says the lawmaker’s beef with Palmetto Family Council wasn’t over gay marriage.

“That issue is settled,” he told us.

Correct.  Well, pending a forthcoming U.S. Supreme Court ruling, anyway.

What was it about then?

“There’s a diff(erence) between being anti-gay marriage and being anti-gay,” Jones said.  “PFC is both.”

Okay … we’d been conditioned by liberal operatives like Jones to believe both positions were synonymous with “hate,” but assuming you accept his distinction: isn’t Brookland Baptist “both,” too?

And if so … does that mean Rutherford should resign his position with the church?  Or stop attending?

No … not at all.

However it does mean that he (and other politicians who attend churches with similar views) should probably think long and hard before trying to score political points on this issue in the future …

Again, for the eleventy kabillionth time, we don’t believe that government (including politicians like Rutherford) should have anything to do with marriage.  That’s exclusively an institution of the church, and it should be up to individual congregations to decide who they wish to marry.

Hilarious. Why is this a surprise about Rutherford? One he is a Democrat and they are hypocrites and liars.

Two, the black community feels the same way about homosexuality and gay marriage as ISIS.It is wrong and a sin. Many black will vote against the Democrat Party on this issue now that Obama is not on the ballot and lesbian Hillary is running.

Since Grand Tango isn’t around, I thought I’d channel him/her/it on this one:

Just like Obama attending Trinity United Church of Christ and listened to the @**#^& Rev Jerimiah Wright. Wright knew Obama was gay and arranged the marriage to that transvestite Moochelle @*&#&&# and *@&*#&#& so this is nothing new or unexpected.

Rutherford is just a #*&$& LIBELATRARIAN and he and his GOD Obammy are just worshiping at the altar of RuPaul who designed Moochelle’s wardrobe.

LIBERALTARIANS have a double standard on @**&$^ and they like to take it up the @$$ while denying that the have any issues with @(**&*$& men talking it up the @$$ but really hating F@&&0ts.

Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s a couple of more days left in masturbation month and I’m out of lube and batteries…

Ive never liked the idea that a politician should be attacked for his own personal beliefs as a private citizen, so long as he represents the constituency that elected him. When personal beliefs (or special interests) cause a politician to make decisions contrary to the wishes of the people that elected him then he is unfit for office.

nitrat May 29, 2015 at 10:57 am

Honestly, do you think that marriage as a contract between two men over the buying and selling of a woman and establishing the paternity of her children did not exist anywhere on the planet before the Christian church?

The Colonel May 29, 2015 at 11:10 am

Obviously the Christian idea of a “God ordained” relationship clearly existed around 6,000 years ago because it’s mentioned in the Bible:

Genesis 2: 22-24 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman, ‘ for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

There’s pretty good evidence that our prehistoric ancestors were in fact not monogamous: But little evidence that the relationships were between “Adam and Steve”. In fact, there is ample evidence that homosexuality came about when humans had more time to “screw around”: In that same study, there are numerous societies where homosexuality is almost non existent.

God Didn't Take A Fucking Rib May 29, 2015 at 11:18 am

What bullshit.

The Colonel May 29, 2015 at 11:45 am

What’s bullshit?

The fact that you disagree with the traditional understanding of the Creation story doesn’t mean that the idea of the traditional understanding of what a marriage is. The Book of Genesis is at least 3,500 years old (most date it to pre 1,500 BCE/BC)

The Ryan and Jetha interview in Salon is simply a “high school” level synopsis of their book “Sex at Dawn: The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality,”

The Kyle article is extremely well researched and was written by a bright young lady at the College of Charleston.

Calling BS is one thing, backing it up is another…

This Bullshit May 29, 2015 at 11:56 am

Bad research in my opinion, and the works she cites are mainly 40 years old or more. My Reasearch and Design professor would had laughed his ass off…

“Since data on the question of homosexuality was not available for all 186 societies in the sample used, the sample size is relatively small and uneven in its distribution between the three different levels of population pressure. The results therefore do not represent the actual percentages of cultures that practice homosexuality around the world…”

The Colonel May 29, 2015 at 12:12 pm

Ah, you can make a cogent argument!

Yes the samples are small and the data is older but that is the entire point. Isolated socioeconomic groups don’t show the levels of homosexuality or acceptance of gay marriage. It is the prevelance of acceptance for homosexuality in “developed society” that is of interest.

RogueElephant May 29, 2015 at 12:21 pm

The acceptance by a society of homosexuality leads to that society’s downfall. Think Greek and Roman empires. Are we next ????? Like I say : you can legalize sin but it is still sin.

SCBlues May 29, 2015 at 3:20 pm

A total of 2.3% of U.S. adults said they were gay, lesbian or bisexual in the largest federal government survey ever to ask about sexual orientation.

That number is a bit lower than the 3% to 4% found in some other recent surveys, including a Gallup Poll from 2012 — but some of those studies encompassed broader groups, including transsexuals. In the new survey of 34,557 adults, released Tuesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an additional 1.1% said they were “something else,” didn’t know or refused to answer.

What level of perversion would be ‘something else’?

The Colonel May 29, 2015 at 12:19 pm

I was going to point that out next. Despite Hollywood and popular media, homosexuality just isn’t normal.

Rutherford inadvertently did Clemson a favor. Now that UNC has agreed to remove the name of a Klan leader from a campus building, people may start to wonder why Clemson is so intent on keeping the name Tillman Hall. For now, instead of being portrayed as both racist and homophobic, the university may only be portrayed as racist, whether true or not. I see people on Clemson’s Tigernet site wondering why the last five football recruits have signed with other schools. The university is handing coaches and recruiters at other schools a gift, and its fans wonder why prospective athletes go elsewhere. I actually must give Dabo great credit as a recruiter, as he has succeeded in spite of the university cluelessly undermining his efforts.

Guest May 29, 2015 at 1:02 pm

News flash for dumb face. College football recruiting is a game that you aren’t qualified nor do you have the inside knowledge to even attempt to play. It may seem to the uneducated such as yourself that a school is actively recruiting a certain athlete when in fact it is a ruse. Secondly, some high school athletes think they have been offered a scholarship when in fact they weren’t. Also when a school gets a position commitment from the player they really wanted, they “graciously” let another school(s) “steal” their secondary recruits while crying crocodile tears.

You’re probably right. By the way, how is Clemson doing in men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, women’s soccer, and baseball? Did I just read the baseball team had its worst winning percentage since 1964? And the basketball team could not even make the NIT? Sounds like the university had better hope for improved recruiting.

Vintage Rutherford hypocrisy, but it’s not as fresh as his recent comments about the tradition of electing chief justices based on seniority within the sitting members of the court!

On Wednesday of this week, when asked if Don Beatty should be elected next year to succeed Costa Pleicones as chief justice, Rutherford told La Socialista, “I hope the seniority process is respected, as it has been, and we continue to elect the most senior justice to have an orderly transition.” However, just one year before, Rutherford voted for Pleicones in his attempt to unseat Toal in her re-election as chief justice.

To recap, in 2014 Rutherford disrespected the seniority system by backing Pleicones over Toal, but in 2015 he thinks the seniority system should be respected to elect Beatty as chief justice when Pleicones has to step down because of his age. I know in the latter situation Rutherford is just looking out for a brotha, the same one who cost his party control of the House due to his re-districting stupidity as a House member.

Daniel Brennan, an openly gay man with no military service is running the Koch Brother’s Concerned Veterans of America. He loves the internet and the freedom it gives him. Literally, he can say anything he wants. Some say he is compensating for, well, you know. Others say he is just an angry boi. I certainly don’t know what goes on in that head.

Gay May 31, 2015 at 9:59 pm

Hans the Lover May 31, 2015 at 10:13 pm

Daniel Brennan is such a sassy guy. So gay and so very sassy. He could have his own show on LOGO!
He will be in Iceland for his summer vacations. If he wears a dark suit he might get harpooned as a fat squat little penguin so he should be careful.
I hear the age of consent for gay sex is 14, and there are no sodomy laws, so he can take your Koch Brothers credit card and go wild!
Sexy! Sassy! Wild! A new reality show on LOGO!

Lars May 31, 2015 at 10:20 pm

It is really legal at 14? Is Daniel Brennan going there for sex?
Is it legal for Americans to have sex with a 14 year old? Even if the American is a near midget?

Ukraine May 31, 2015 at 11:03 pm

Loftis knows the answer to this question.. He has the answer to the question about sex with a 14 year old and about young boys in Ukraine. Easy access to young boys with the Saluda Charitable Foundation and his attorney friend Mike Montgomery. Yes, he knows.. . Loftis knows…

Jake May 31, 2015 at 5:41 pm

Dan Brennan and his Koch Brother’s posters have been posting 1000’s of nasty comments predicting Loftis’s demise. He seems to be doing just fine. So what is the game…another 3 thousand nasty lying posts will make the difference? 5 thousand? Is there a limit on the number of lies you folks can think up?

Old RC lawyer May 29, 2015 at 11:07 pm

Todd Rutherford is nothing more than a used douchebag.

Ken May 30, 2015 at 9:53 am

We just need to ask Daniel Brennan of the Concerned Veterans for America. He has the point of view that is needed. Since he is openly gay and head of a Koch Brothers organization, he can tell us all.

Ask May 31, 2015 at 8:27 am

Ken, we can ask Curtis Loftis who has all these characteristics as well. Curt loves young men, well hanged , from way back. See Alt talk royalty ( 2004) and hires them.. Then fires them when he does not get what he wants. Abuse of power is against State and Federal laws..

Plane May 31, 2015 at 9:30 am

Daniel Brennan worked for Curtis Loftis .. took trips with Curt and was in the state plane to New York when Curtis Loftis signed the ridiculous deal with the Bank of NY/ mellon… Why did he leave the treasurer’s office?? Perhaps, like many who are around Loftis for a while, he just wanted to get away. Turnover rate in the treasurer’s office since Loftis arrived: 75%. Who’s running that show?

Please lay off the drugs and gay raves It is damaging your brain.

What you are doing makes no sense.

Iceland will be a nice trip. And 14 years olds are fair game because they are legal age. And no sodomy laws…wow, you will be in gay heaven. You can meet someone your own height! Take care of yourself Dan, we need you around. Good Tina is hard to find.

Dan May 31, 2015 at 10:08 pm

Ya’ll better quit typing things about me. That is my job. I make things up and try to hurt people. But you can’t do that about me. That is not fair. You should not pick on me. I am just a short fat gay boy typing hate filled comments about my former boss. What is wrong with that? Ya’ll quit picking on me.

Stop May 31, 2015 at 10:12 pm

Loftis hired gay , well hanged young men. Many PR guys.. deceived and abused young PR guys.. This must stop. It is against state and federal laws. Loftis must resign.. The state must address this issue. Liability and moral issues.. Stop this now

Hans the Lover May 31, 2015 at 10:16 pm

Type it Daniel, Type it! You are so sassy especially when you are on Tina. Is Stephen helping you write this stuff? Maybe even Stephens boss?
I can only imagine the fun you guys can have in Iceland. And why they allow consensual gay sex at 14 is beyond me, but hey, you go boi. You say, say Boi!

Stop May 31, 2015 at 11:23 pm

So are the young boys in Ukraine and they are an easy target under LOFTIS Saluda Charitable Foundation . Loftis knows about sodomy and boys. gross

Peter May 31, 2015 at 10:29 pm

Because a drugged out Gay man says someone is posting does not mean it is true. You pretend like Loftis is posting but that is gay fantasy BS

In fact why would anyone believe an “anonymous”gay poster that is as nasty as Dan? He can blame his crazy behavior on the drugs but Tina does not usually make someone mean, just horny. That is why gay men use it. Especially when they go to vacation in a country where visitors can diddle 14 year old boys..

Dr. Phil Me Up. May 31, 2015 at 10:35 pm

Dan, drugs are cheap in Iceland, so you can bring back a years supply!
“These Tina drugs tend to inhibit penile erection,[3][4] a phenomenon known by the slang term crystal dick. Consequently, many men who engage in PNP use erectile dysfunction drugs such as sildenafil, vardenafil, and tadalafil.[8]”

This is good news for you!

CorrineM May 31, 2015 at 8:59 am

My god, Curtis, what can you possibly gain by making comments like this? Your habit of trying to make yourself look or feel better by denigrating others is a very ugly practice. How old are you now??? Grow up. You’re not in kindergarten any more.

Jake May 31, 2015 at 5:27 pm

You Loftis haters gonna hate. That is what you do.
You never stop attacking Loftis. Its boring.

carl May 31, 2015 at 9:09 am

Curt, you are a bully. This is the behavior of a bully. Needless aggression against somebody who is not bothering you at all. Can’t you see that? Are you proud of that? You’re the state treasurer and do things like this? Just amazing.

Jack May 31, 2015 at 4:21 pm

The Koch Brothers are not anti-gay rights or marriage. They just want to be in charge of the country. They don’t care whether the people they rule are straight or gay.

Kyle May 31, 2015 at 5:31 pm

Someone makes a true statement about gay Daniel Brenan and the Concerned Veterans Of America and you people attack Loftis. That is insane.

Are you saying Dan Brennan is not gay? That his boyfriend Stephen is not gay?

I dont understand why you attack an innocent person over the issue of gay Daniel Brennan. Dan is out of the closet and so why attack Loftis?

Miles May 31, 2015 at 5:35 pm

The Koch Brothers are behind Alan Wilson for governor. This is how they hope to keep Loftis from running against Wilson.

They used this same tactic last election cycle in two other states and had some success. It is a dirty trick but something the Koch Brothers are OK with.

Wilson May 31, 2015 at 9:21 pm

Loftis will never be governor..He has a high school degree.. no financial knowledge, a gross life style and a violent temper with no limits. No future in that .. The koch Brothers know best.. Loftis will never be governor. Gay, Loftis is exposed for what he is. Abuse of power in office is against the law.

Adonis May 31, 2015 at 9:23 pm

Tina has always served you well.

Gay May 31, 2015 at 8:25 pm

Loftis hired Brennan and He worked very hard for Loftis.. Many pictures and many hours of dedicated work from him to make Loftis look good. Is your gay “GRINDR” account being paid by the Kochs? Are they paying for your trip to gay Iceland?

PartyAllNight May 31, 2015 at 8:50 pm

Dan Brennan, can I reach you at “LittlePrickBigAsss” on Gay Grindr? Or your Concerned Veterans of America website?

I would like some Tina from you.

Hanged May 31, 2015 at 9:08 pm

Curtis Loftis, Can I reach you at the State Treasurer Of SC? I am well hanged with a big bulge and have read your want ad for a male servant on Craig list. I also know that you like young men with big bulge and I think I qualify.. Give me a call . I can make you forget that Bank of NY/Mellon deal that you signed and has cost over 200 millions in the trust fund of State retirees. Yes, I qualify .. well hanged

Tina Dan May 31, 2015 at 9:19 pm

Oh Dan, meant to tell you that I read this and thought of you!
“an entire subculture known as party and play is based around methamphetamine use.”[3] Gay men belonging to this subculture will typically meet up through internet dating sites and have sex.”

Mary Jane May 31, 2015 at 10:18 pm

Dan, sassy Dan. I love this. I can type forever. It is so much fun to see you get so mad. Toot Toot you head must go. Toot Toot, the sassy head must go!

Hans May 31, 2015 at 9:09 pm

I suppose Dan knows this about his summer vacation spot:

“ICELAND LAWS: 1. Has no sodomy laws, the age of sexual consent is 14 for all.”

I bet it is difficult to tell a 13 year old boy from a 14 year old boy Travelers should be very careful.

Adonis May 31, 2015 at 9:21 pm

Don’t take Tina to Iceland. It is cheaper there.

This is just an old Koch Brothers trick. Post an anonymous, small attack against someone unimportant like Brennan then have a fierce, deceptive and angry rebuttal at an innocent party like Loftis. The Koch Brothers should stop attacking Loftis under these false pretenses.

Tim May 31, 2015 at 5:43 pm

I heard the Koch Brothers have given Dan Brennan and commodores 50 grand to torpedo Loftis. I suppose this is the method they have chosen. Does not speak well for the Koch Brothers sense of honor and integrity.

Mick May 31, 2015 at 6:11 pm

Hell, some people are just stupid. These haters have made Loftis the center of their world and are playing the fool like it is no one’s business. The post against him, and sometimes they make up post from him just so they can make stupid attacks back at him. Honestly, there is an IQ problem here and these Loftis haters evidently are in the very, very slow category.

BeachBum June 1, 2015 at 8:08 am

It is clear to anyone with a brain that this is the Investment Commission people turning on Brennan so he will attack Loftis even more viscously than before.
Goes to show the old saying, “there is no honor among thieves'” holds true in the age of anonymous internet posting.

Attack June 1, 2015 at 8:33 am

What? Loftis innocent? He is an infected vile man, a bully, with violence against women … a vicious man, expert in false accusations and attacks .. A very sick bully with the personality of a roach..

Scooter May 31, 2015 at 12:07 am

Resign, my eye! If that church had any integrity, they would ask for his resignation and if that is not forthcoming, his butt should be dismissed immediately.

MarkyMark May 31, 2015 at 7:21 pm

Rutherford may well find that being quiet is a prudent course.

Janet May 31, 2015 at 7:43 pm

I can’t imagine anyone carrying about the issue.

Dayton May 31, 2015 at 7:52 pm

True words from Fits:
“However it does mean that he (and other politicians who attend churches with similar views) should probably think long and hard before trying to score political points on this issue in the future …”

Actually we have been conditioned by sites like this to be lazy. The palmetto family council supports the discredited idea of ex-gay therapy and endorses groups like the family research council and American Family Association who spread lies about gays such as gays started the Nazi party and homosexuality and pedophilia are related. Instead the media gets stuck on lazy semantics regarding hate instead of doing good old fashion research.
