|| By FITSNEWS || The S.C. General Assembly Woman’s Caucus is taking some heat over party favors it doled out to a roomful of female nonprofit leaders.
The caucus – working in concert with the S.C. Association of Non-Profit Organizations (SCANPO) – held an event last week in downtown Columbia, S.C. for the purpose of celebrating charities and their “contributions to our state and her people.”
Great, right? Sure …
But the gift bags doled out to these female leaders after the event left a little something to be desired. Or a lot to be desired, in the opinion of some recipients.
“(Each bag) could have been filled with books about empowerment,” one attendee wrote. “It could have held an iPad to be used in their missions. It could have had a lapel pin with the (Womens’ Caucus) logo. Even better it could have had a check for their charities. Instead, each strong, compassionate woman was given a bag of Mary Kay makeup. Now, Mary Kay has done a lot to empower women but what was their intended message? ‘Thank you for your commitment to SC; please put on some lipstick.'”
Leave it to South Carolina lawmakers, right?
