Carly Fiorina Blasts Tax Code

FORMER CEO, 2016 CONTENDER ALSO RAILS AGAINST D.C. BUDGET PROCESS

|| By FITSNEWS ||  Former Hewlett Packard CEO and aspiring “Republican” presidential contender Carly Fiorina has a message for GOP primary voters on Tax Day – and it’s a surprisingly populist in tone.

“Our current tax system is in desperate need of reform,” Fiorina said.  “The complexity and lack of transparency only benefits the powerful and connected while crushing small businesses and innovation. The result is crony capitalism – because only big businesses can handle big government.”

She’ll get no argument from us on that … or from, you know, reality.

As far as we’re concerned, the discriminatory and deceptive Internal Revenue Service (IRS) should be razed … with the earth it stood on salted.

“The worst part is that right now Washington doesn’t even know where all your tax dollars are going,” Fiorina added.  “They have no idea because they never examine any budget from top to bottom – and haven’t for decades.”

Fiorina knows what she’s talking about here – she began her career as a vendor in Washington, D.C.

“As anyone who has done business with the federal government knows, in the last six weeks of every year, every government agency spends every dime,” she said.  “They do that because they want to make sure the appropriations process is focused on the rate of increase for the following year – not what they actually need or whether they actually need to spend it.”

That’s true … and it’s one of the main reasons why federal budgets grow in perpetuity (and why reductions in excess are bemoaned as “cuts”).

Props to Fiorina for sounding the right tone on this issue …

Now if she comes up with some specific tax and spending reforms, we’ll be really impressed.

Why are Paulbots pandering to the consultant class of the Republican establishment propping up someone tied to Karl Rove being Carly Firoina?

Biggest story on ‘tax day’ this year is the ACA and how the taxpayers are getting fucked by ACA fines and penalties. Over a million people are going to have to pay back part of their subsidy. The fine goes to $325 in 2015 or 2% of income-whichever is greater…IRS will be garnishing wages and using liens to collect fines and taxes…

Only people getting insurance under ACA are bums on Medicaid…prisoners are now getting free insurance on state exchanges under ACA…

Typical idiot fake news watcher who is totally clueless as to how this works. Tons of small business people are getting insurance through the ACA. People with preexisting conditions, and who work their ass off are getting insurance. People who are eligible for Medicaid don’t get anything under ACA. You are a complete dumb ass.

Remember the Republican Health Care Plan, don’t get sick, and if you do, die quickly.

Bum On Your Lips April 15, 2015 at 10:54 am

Prisoners need health insurance? Didn’t know the prison nurse was in the BCBS network, good to know for those that get shanked. Funny how poor people and prisoners can get insured and apparently you are unable to since you are complaining about the penalty. Are you some kind of kryptonian bum? Superbum? Responsibility must be your kryptonite. Stop costing us money you uninsured bum.

One state has put forward an amendment to enroll prisoners on expanded Medicaid under ACA/state exchanges…only people that are winners under Muslim Obama’s ACA are the unemployed and poor…and they still can’t find a doctor…

Got The Uninsured Bum Blues April 15, 2015 at 11:03 am

I know people on an exchange plan and they find doctors just fine, and can actually go to them now. Of course that is because they are not bums. If you can’t find insurance then you should ask to expand the ACA to help cover more people. If you just don’t want to you are a bum and I have no sympathy for you. Pay your fine bum, you are costing us money, we may as well cost you some too.

guest April 15, 2015 at 11:10 am

I have insurance and a doctor, socialist…why do you think all the major pharmacies are putting clinics in…CVS etc…NO fucking doctors moron…doctors are not accepting these NEW Medicaid people…they are seeing a nurse at these clinics..

Bum Tickley April 15, 2015 at 11:14 am

You have insurance and a doctor, so why are you complaining about the penalty? Oh I get it you don’t have insurance and are a bum but are ashamed of your bum status, so sorry. If doctors aren’t acecpting new Medicaid patients then they’ll never get seen and the money won’t get spent, so what are you complaining about again? Oh right, too lazy to even try to get off the couch to even sign up for that.

guest April 15, 2015 at 11:17 am

Yep…getting vericose veins lasered in June…great insurance…

Carly Fiorina is her own woman. No propping from Rove (aside from the obvious acknowledgement from Karl that it’s harder for Hillary to poach GOP women — One of the Democrat’s stated goals, incidentally — when Carly is so much more appealing to Republican women.) Carly is chair of the American Conservative Union, for example, which by no means can be described as an ‘establishment’ organization.

There are plenty of right wingers who sit on welfare but preach against the moochers, my guess is that they just want everyone else off so they can get more from the government themselves. But it is all right they will be millionaires eventually, just waiting for the Powerball guy to finally pick their numbers and they will be eating caviar with Charles and David aboard their yacht in the Caribbean. Until then boiled bootstrap stew for dinner.

Bums Subsidize Nothing April 15, 2015 at 11:19 am

I doubt a bum complaining about the penalty subsidizes anyone or anything. Why should you have to treat anyone fairly? That sure is a tough question, for a bum at least. Most people treat others fairly because they want to be treated fairly. Bums don’t like fairness. Bums want everything on a silver platter for themselves and don’t want to have to give anything in return. Sound familiar?

The “tea freaks” I speak of are the ones who spout stupid bullshit about women, childbirth, and rape that show their complete ignorance. They also spout hatred against gays and people of religious other than their own, which they claim to be coming from a spiritual place, as they think they are true Christians, and the only ones worthy of being called that. Thier leaders are funded by obscenely wealthy corporatist assholes, so it’s not “grass roots” at all.

The Tea Party started out with some pretty high ideals, but some of the most ignorant, bigoted, hateful and divisive people in the USA have run it into the ground. It’s a joke.

I left out the willful ignorance on science, from heads of important committees dealing with the environment, etc., who take big checks from donors with a vested interest in not doing a damned thing about the environment that is positive.

Plus the dumb sons of bitches in positions of power who believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old, and that either dinosaurs and people existed at the same time, or Satan and/or God put fake dino bones in the ground to test our faith. Plus dedicated fundie theocrats who want to hasten the Final Conflict, just as the radical Iranian islamists do, and for a similar reason — just faultily reasoned out from the opposite side.

Jesus Christ, everybody with any sense at all should be terrified over having such “leaders” in Congress. And fucking running for President!!!!

Jack April 15, 2015 at 3:32 pm

And just as many veterans, if not more are not Tea Nuts, and still love this country for what it is, and even more for what it could be if Repugnants and their billionaire masters would stop trying to run the country to only benefit them.

Most veterans are not rich. Most veterans have seen their income fall under trickle down policies. Most veterans will rely on social security and medicare when they retire or do now.

Republicans do not have a monopoly on patriotism. Despite your Fake News hate speech to the contrary. Many Americans think this nation is great now and can be greater if the Republican party with their narrow minded hate and corruption will just stop standing in the way, and let the middle class become prosperous again. The golden age of America was not the 1890s, it was 1933 to 1980. That is when the middle class thrived, that is when this country was at its greatest.

RogueElephant April 15, 2015 at 3:36 pm

I did pretty good with “trickle down economics” myself. It was that spreading the misery under Obummer that has me worried now.

Jack April 15, 2015 at 3:43 pm

Well the vast majority of Americans have not. The inflation adjusted income of the Average American has been falling since 1980. The middle class is failing, and with it everything great America stands for. That failure has nothing to do with the last 6 years. It has everything to do with the repeal of Taft Hartley, the financial collapse, the endless wars, and the revamping of the American Tax and economic system to favor the ultra wealthy at the expense of everyone else.

We are plunging headlong into a new era of Aristocracy and elitism. The new Robber Barons will not make America great, they will rob it blind. Corporations are not people, and money is not speech.

Welcome to the world’s newest banana Republic. Government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich. What did you say? I can’t hear you!! Maybe a few more Franklins will make your speech louder. .Remember, in Kochsuckeristan, money is speech, not worthless air moving over your vocal chords, and sure as hell not dried up ink on a piece of paper. Either the money talks or the people walk.

Gee, I think we should elect Carly as president because she did such an outstanding job at HP. During her tenure 18,000 jobs disappeared, the $19 billion HP/COMPAQ merger caused huge losses in equity for shareholders (the company’s stock fell more than 50% while she was there), and she alienated the board so thoroughly they fired her — with a $21 million “golden parachute.” HP has recovered to a great extent, but only after she left. To quote Market Watch: “HP directors had come to the conclusion that Fiorina simply was incapable of running the bigger, heftier corporate behemoth.” So we should elect her president, right?

Tom April 15, 2015 at 11:18 am

Can you say bailout queen. Only little people should suffer when they lose their job or pay taxes. Job creators and destroyers like me, are above all that.

Barbara Bush wasn’t out of the same mold, I guess, as the rest of the GOP women. Just as so many attractive movie and recording stars on the Dem side don’t fit your formula, either. It actually breaks down many ways. There are at least two attractive Dem women in the SC legislature. Not a whole bunch of attractive Repub ones. At any rate, it’s kind of stupid to talk about looks in this context. Which is why I said I was lowering the discourse.
