By FITSNEWS || S.C. Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom‘s impending wedding to a Midlands, S.C. school teacher is apparently “off.” Again.
Eckstrom and former S.C. Superintendent of Education candidate Kelly Payne were scheduled to be married on December 21, but sources close to the “Republican” elected official tell FITS the wedding is not happening.
Payne and Eckstrom have been engaged – and un-engaged – so many times in the past few years we’ve quit counting.
“Their wedding dates are about as firm as the Jell-O the aging Comptroller will soon be slurping down at the nursing home,” we wrote a few months ago.
Eckstrom and Payne’s star-crossed affair has produced courtroom battles, police reports, allegations of sexually transmitted diseases, wedding rings for sale on Craigslist as well as campaign finance abuse charges related to Eckstrom paying for Payne’s travel to the 2012 Republican National Convention.
It’s also had an effect on Eckstrom’s work … although despite the incessant drama he was reelected last month with 59 percent of the vote.
Way to go South Carolina!
Earlier this week, Eckstrom’s son Brad Eckstrom received pretrial intervention for criminal domestic violence (CDV) charges filed against him by the state after he allegedly punched, kicked and grabbed his 29-year-old former fiancee Blair Pettrey by the hair, dragging her across his mother’s home during an October 10 incident. Pettrey was nine weeks pregnant with Brad Eckstrom’s child at the time of the alleged assault.
Eckstrom’s sweetheart deal was announced as “Republican” leaders in South Carolina vowed to take “action” on the issue of domestic violence …
Anyway … we’ll be sure to let you know when the inevitable “re-engagement” between Payne and Richard Eckstrom is announced.

I know where you are coming from , but if the state were run by Dims. it would be the same outcome. Politicians are politicians. Most are egotists of the highest order. I, me, my are the most important thing on their minds, at everyone else’s expense if necessary. I tend to dismiss this kind of thing as “shit happens” and look for the good politicians who uphold the traditions of service and devotion to country. Sometimes it is hard to do but worth the effort. It can also get lonely.
Just like Metts, these people campaign on their morals and religion, when they are as bad as any lying criminal, who steals from the innocent.
These people are stealing from future generations and have flushed their children down a toilet for their self serving sins of the almighty dollar and sins of the flesh!
I remember Bob Peeler campaign slogan “faith family and friends”, asking people to “pray for him” , as he was destroying his family and the next door neighbor’s family as he and Donna carried on shamelessly! He violated, cheated and made a mockery of all!
Mark Sanford was fond of talking of “Jenny and our four boys”! he could have given a damn about his family also. The people of the State were totally disregarded as he “hiked the Appalachin Trail
