By FITSNEWS  ||  Ordinarily, this is the time of year when we make fun of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Hell, in years past we mockingly referred to it as the “Anybody Can Compete” conference.

Not this year …

The ACC represented this season – capped by a weekend in which the basketball conference shredded its opponents in the all-powerful Southeastern Conference (SEC).  In football.

The most impressive win?  Clemson’s 35-17 drubbing of arch-rival South Carolina … in which head coach Steve Spurrier’s offense was held to a season low 17 points.

Obviously All-American defensive end Vic Beasley was a big part of that performance … as he is the undisputed leader of the nation’s No. 1 defense.  But Beasley (who had a key forced fumble against South Carolina) has had plenty of help – most notably from run-stopping defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and linebacker Stephone Anthony.

All three players were named to the 2014 first-team All-ACC squad this week … and deservedly so.

For those of you keeping score, Beasley finished the 2014 regular season with 11 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss.  Jarrett had seventy tackles, while Anthony led the Tigers with 88 tackles – include 9.5 tackles for loss.

Props to all three performers …

Meanwhile, Clowney is tearing up in the NFL. Soon, Tango will attribute this to Obama.

Go on any sports media site and you will see Gamecock fans talking about Dabo playing Deshaun Watson… I don’t know why SC fans are complaining about Clemson playing Watson with a torn ACL.

Spurrier played his entire defense in the second half with broken ankles.
