GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE’S TOWN HALL TOUR TO VISIT SPARTANBURG ICON

Our founding editor will be on the road a good bit this week … but unfortunately he will not be stopping by The Beacon in Spartanburg, S.C.

That’s a shame, too, because if there’s anything he loves it’s good food served “a-plenty” – and some of the finest iced tea available anywhere in the world.  Speaking of “a-plenty,” it’s been a little over a year since J.C. Stroble, the man who made The Beacon famous, passed away at the age of 71.

Rest in peace, “Call it.”

Anyway, The Beacon has become a fixture for political candidates – which is why self-styled “independent Republican” Tom Ervin is taking his campaign there this week for the latest in his series of town hall meetings.

Ervin will be at The Beacon (here) on Monday September 8 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. EDT – one of nine town hall meetings the candidate is hosting around the state over the next three days (part of a larger 23-stop tour of the state).

Here’s Ervin’s schedule for the next two days …

The men’s bathroom at the Beacon looks like something out of a horror movie.

If he eats there, he better cancel the rest of the day.

LOL! You beat me to it!

If he eats first, he’ll have to do the meet and greet in the men’s room.

The Beacon really needs to serve Immodium AD with its meals.

Or offer a Pepto Bismol milkshake.

I had always intended to stop by the Beacon for a burger one day – based on ya’ll’s overwhelming recommendations, I think I’ll just skip it…

It’s something you should try at least once in your life, but yeah, it can ruin your stomach/intestines for a day.

Everybody needs the experience at least once. Go for it, man!

You haven’t seen the purest form of gluttony until you’ve watched someone eat “a plenty” all by themselves. It’s enough food for a family of 3.

Iced tea in the South is right up there with BBQ. I, for one, do not care for the carbonation that is added to the Beacon tea to make it different. Tea is one of those things that is hard to make unique / better but is very easy to make worse.

I am hearing more and more people speak favorably of Ervin and his campaign. People are expressing their desires for new, fresh blood and the fact that Ervin “says it the way it is”, does not spin and give same worn out answers. One guy told me recently, “he tells you exactly what his positions are and how he will make changes. He is not evasive like these career politicians.”

He IS a career politician. He has lost as a Dim and as a Republican. LOL This old goat needs to go away.

He’s going to the rest of the major cities in SC except Greenville. I wonder why.

York, Rock Hill and Spartanburg are “major cities”?

He hasn’t been to CHS, N CHS or Mt Pleasant…the 2nd 3rd and 4th largest cities in SC.

Tom is a great man, who has served the people of South Carolina well for years. He will make an outstanding governor, replacing the horrible destruction that Nikki has wrought on our state. One of the worst state economies, the security breech, the dead children. We need to elect time to get out of this death spiral.

Wow: I bet Ervin’s the ONLY candidate to ever go to the Beacon. Has FITS alerted his buddies over at CNN, The NYT and MSNBC yet?

Sounds like Emily didn’t get an invite.
