We’ve heard of some crazy web concepts, but “Drunk Dial Congress” is one of the more ridiculous …
Seriously … who gets hammered and says to themselves “gee, I’d love to talk politics to somebody right about now.”
Nonetheless, DrunkDialCongress.org – a project of the left-leaning Revolution Messaging firm – kicked off this week in response to the so-called “shutdown” of the federal government (which it turns out didn’t shut very much down at all).
“Mad at Congress over the shutdown? Have a drink and tell them,” the site proclaims. “Whether you are a furloughed worker, being forced to work for free or just fed up at Capitol Hill – call and yell at a random member of Congress.”
Users who type their phone number into the site are greeted by slurred voice.
“Is this government shutdown making you want to drink?” it asks “When I drink I like to tell people what’s on my mind.”
When the recording ends, they are connected to a random Congressional office (Revolution insists it is forwarding calls to Democrats as well as Republicans).
Hmmmm …
So are an estimated 1,000 calls have been made. No word yet if any have gone to South Dakota hottie Kristi Noem, although one can always hope.
Right Kristi?
