GREENVILLE, SC – Today, Roy Harmon filed the necessary paperwork to run in the Republican primary for South Carolina House District 17.

“The 17th District have shown in election after election they believe that responsible and efficient state government is a goal worth pursuing,” said Harmon. “If elected to the State House, I will work to cut taxes and cut spending in order to keep our state strong. Further, I will be an advocate for northern Greenville County and work tirelessly to make our community the best place to live and do business in South Carolina.”

Harmon added, “In the time since I announced my candidacy, I have had the opportunity to speak to voters all across this district. They are worried about the uncertainty and fiscal irresponsibility coming out of Washington. They want their elected officials, at all levels, to stand by the conservative principles of limited government and economic freedom. As their representative, the citizens of District 17 can count on me to do so.”

Roy F. Harmon, IV, 28, is a third year Juris Doctor candidate at the University of South Carolina School of Law. During his time at USC law, Roy has worked for a reform-focused policy group. The son of Roy and Jenifer Harmon, he is a lifelong resident of the northern Greenville County, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a graduate of Travelers Rest High School. Roy has three younger siblings, Hal, Emmie, and Will. This is his first time seeking elected office.

Heard him speak the other night to the County Republican party. Glad to see a young guy jumping in. Hope he becomes more active in the county party after graduation.
