SC Senate Republican Caucus Holding Election
Another GOP Phone Scandal
South Carolina Republican political operatives allegedly eavesdropped on a telephone conference call held by several conservative party activists, sources tell FITS. In doing so, they may have broken state law and exposed themselves to civil and criminal liability.
The alleged eavesdropping scam the latest chapter in an ongoing war within the GOP – a political battle [...]
Another “Sleeve” Sellout
In case you’ve already forgotten about the whole “rolling up their sleeves” press conference fiasco, it was a made-for-TV political event that took place earlier this spring up in Spartanburg, S.C.
Basically, two fake Republican Senators stood up with their colleagues and pretended to be fiscal conservatives, but then turned around and voted with the State [...]
Peeler Plays The Blame Game … Badly
When he’s not posing for ridiculous photographs outside of the S.C. State House, Senate “Majority” Leader Harvey Peeler is voting in lockstep with the liberal RINOcrat caucus inside the building.
In the ongoing battle between conservative reformers like Sen. Tom Davis and big government backers like Sen. Hugh Leatherman, Peeler had long been viewed as a [...]
Oh Brother, Larry Art Thou?
You’d think S.C. Sen. Larry Martin would’ve had room somewhere in that massive noggin of his to remember who his Majority Leader was.
Or what party he was in.
Or what his Majority Leader and his party would have wanted him to do at a critical moment during last week’s legislative negotiations on the floor of the [...]
Lobbyist’s Proximity Questioned
With the S.C. Senate Republican Caucus almost evenly-divided between reformers and RINOcrats, there’s a vigorous battle being waged for the heart and soul of the so-called “majority” party.
With hundreds of millions of state tax dollars at stake – which way will the GOP go?
Will Republicans continue to follow the Marxist march of Senate Finance Committee [...]
Thin Skin
In the battle to get S.C. Republicans to act like Republicans, Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler is your classic fence-sitter.
He’s a finger-in-the-wind, do-just-enough-to-get-by, fifty percent Republican.
Sure, he’s not a full-fledged “D” like Hugh Leatherman, Billy O’Dell or Luke Rankin (all “former” Democrats), but his consistent acquiescence to South Carolina’s failed status quo is every bit [...]
Who “Gotcha” Who?
We’re trying to figure out what happened to State Sen. Ray Cleary.
We were always under the impression that he occasionally got within the vicinity of being a “Republican,” you know, as opposed to those bureaucrat apologists whose job in Columbia is to fan the altar of Mini-Marx (a.k.a. Little Lenin, Huge Government, The Godfather of [...]
Caucus Reform: Not Enough
Just call it “Reform Lite.”
Or a “checked swing.”
Or perhaps “institutional half-measures” works better.
But whatever you call it, don’t say that the S.C. Senate Republican Caucus committed itself yesterday to the sort of fundamental change needed if South Carolina state government is to ever be truly efficient, accountable and transparent to the taxpayers.
They took a few [...]
Don’t Mess With Sic Willie
One thing about our founding editor … you can love him or hate him, but if you’re gonna hate him, you might want to buckle your chin strap.
The same can be said of rough-and-tumble S.C. Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler, who has always had a good relationship with our favorite bad boy after the two [...]
Defending SC RINOs Proving Costly
Six S.C. Republican State Senate nominees – Dee Compton, Mike Gardner, Shane Massey, Bill McKown, Mick Mulvaney and Mike Rose – are all facing incredibly tight races this November, elections that will have a profound impact in determining the ideological composition of our state government.
Not surprisingly, in races this close every little bit of help [...]
Who’s Behind “Gay” Robo-Calls?
Anonymous, undisclosed robo-calls have invaded a South Carolina Senate district, making national news and sparking a flood of visceral reaction and insider intrigue … or have they?
Could the whole thing be a “set-up?”
No one knows for sure at this point who the calls are targeting, how widespread they are or who they are designed to [...]
