South Carolina voters spoke emphatically and unambiguously this month – advancing the candidacies of attorney general Alan Wilson and state representative Jermaine Johnson to the Palmetto State’s governor’s election this fall.
Not only did Wilson and Johnson survive well-funded challenges from multiple independently wealthy candidates, they overcome numerous pernicious externalities that nearly ended both bids before they even got started. Wilson, in particular, managed to absorb the sort of body blows that would have decimated most campaigns for elected office – which you can learn more about by watching my extended sit-down conversation with the newly minted Republican gubernatorial nominee.
We’re also looking forward to getting Johnson – who has previously visited our studios – to come in for a conversation about how he sees the upcoming race shaping up.
In our opening segment, research director Jenn Wood and I broke down the ‘Crossroads 2026’ partisan primary results – including the governor’s race as well as the pitched battle over who would follow Wilson as South Carolina’s next attorney general.

Speaking of the attorney general’s office, Jenn and I discussed next week’s looming status conference in the retrial of accused killer Alex Murdaugh – which has been assigned a judge but has yet to be placed on the docket.
While Monday morning’s hearing is expected to be predominantly procedural, multiple motions – and barbs – have already been flying in the second chapter of this high-stakes, high-profile legal drama. In the weeks since the S.C. supreme court unanimously reversed Murdaugh’s convictions from his first trial, no media outlet has covered Murdaugh 2.0 any closer than us.
We’ve spoken with Murdaugh’s attorneys (here and here), with prosecutors (here) and we’ve broken down many of the key issues still lingering from the first trial. We know FOR SURE that:
(1) Alex, Paul, and Maggie, started at 8:00 pm a large and relatively fatty meal (precooked and left on the stove for them by Blanca) at the Moselle house.
(2) The threesome finished that meal at 8:30 pm just as the sun was beginning to set on low-country coastal county of a 7 June, that is close to the summer solstice when the days are the longest of the year.
(3) Between 8:30 and 8:44 pm on 7 June 2021, Paul and Maggie (whose movements and whereabout were known to many via social media, etc.) headed in the crepuscular daylight towards the kennels which are circa 300-400 yards from the Moselle house.
(4) Circa 8:49 pm Alex joined Paul and Maggie at the kennels and began extracting a bird from the jaws of Bubba-the-dog while Paul was taking a video of the tail of Rogan Gibson’s Cash, which was “a guest” in the Murdaughs’ kennels.
(5) At that time, Paul’s phone battery was on its last 1% and Maggie’s was on its last 2%.
(6) Alex headed for Almeda at 9:02 pm and arrived back at Moselle circa 10:00 pm, where and when he discovered the bodies and called 911.
You insist that the shootings happened between 8:49 pm and 9:02 ONLY BECAUSE the Prosecution said so with a lot of theatrics and phone waving by Creighton Waters.
I go by SCIENCE which tells me that the food in Paul’s and Maggie’s stomachs AT AUTOPSY was too little and too digested for their lives to have ended ONLY 19-32 MINUTES after their last meal AS WE KNOW IT.
The kennels video and Paul and Maggie’s last meal tell us about Alex Murdaugh’s ACTUAL innocence.
How many “minutes before” the shootings people say Alex Murdaugh was at the kennels?
If you want to say under ten minutes before, what is anyone’s proof of when Paul or Maggie were ACTUALLY shot?
If you mean more that the 13 minutes between the kennels video and Alex starting his car towards Almeda, then Alex could NOT possibly have the shooter of a shooter or a silent witness to the shootings.
?If Alex had been the shooter, he would have SEEN Paul making the kennels video with his phone and putting it in his pocket. IF Alex wanted to hide evidence of Alex’s having been at the kennels supposedly under 10 minutes before the shootings, Alex would have taken the phone and PHYSICALLY destroyed it or drowned it or hid it or whatever.
Alex did NOT need Paul’s password for that.
If Alex has, as pretended by his FALSE accusers, been able to hide the big-sized shooting weapons, he would have been able to dispose of that supposedly-incriminating phone along with the shooting weapons.
Remember? The FALSE accusers also pretend Alex took Maggie’s phone AFTER shooting her and PHYSICALLY disposed of it.
Why would Alex NOT have done the same with Paul’s phone?
Remember? If Alex had been the shooter, he would have SEEN the phone in Paul’s pocket and KNOWN that Paul had made the kennels video with it. He would have taken it along with Maggie’s phone and destroyed it or hid it along with Maggie’s phone.
Alex did THE OPPOSITE of what the real shooter would have done:
(1) Alex returned to Moselle from Almeda that night. Had Alex been the real shooter, he would have spent the night in his hospitalized father’s bed in Almeda (as Maggie expected him to do, incidentally) and left the bodies to be discovered in the morning by one of the Moselle farm/kennels workers.
(2) The next morning, Alex helped SLED locate and retrieve Maggie’s phone after it had been noticed missing. Had Alex been the real shooter and the real disposer of Maggie’s phone, he would have kept his silence until the battery died and the phone would have never been located.
And AGAIN, Alex NEVER said the phrase, “I never went to the kennels.” He just omitted to report that he had gone there before going to Almeda.
And again and again, Paul’s and Maggie’s stomach’s contents AT AUTPOSY put the REAL time of the shootings closer to 9:30 pm on 7 June 2021.

I did not write that Alex saw the video ITSELF.
I wrote that Alex must have SEEN PAUL MAKING THE VIDEO. The threesome, who had just had dinner together, were in the narrow confines of the kennels.
If Paul and Maggie could see Bubba-the-dog closely enough to debate whether what its jaws held was a chicken or a guinea, and for Alex to summon Bubba-the-dog and extract the bird from its jaws and later see that chicken died, then Alex MUST HAVE BEEN close enough to SEE PAUL MAKING THE VIDEO then put Paul’s own phone back in Paul’s own pocket.
Had Alex been the real shooter, or had he known that some shooters would show up at the kennels and confront Paul and Maggie, Alex WOULD NECESSARILY HAVE KNOWN that video on Paul’s phone would cast suspicion on Alex; and Alex would have taken the phone from a lifeless Paul’s pocket and disposed of it along with the shooting weapons.
“by 8:49” Paul and Maggie were NOT “dead.”
There is ABSOLUTELY no support for the assumption that they were.
And for the nth time: the food in their stomachs AT AUTOPSY was too little and too digested for their lives to have ended ONLY 19 MINUTES after their KNOWN large and relatively fatty last meal.
These are NOT false facts. These are long known MEDICAL facts about human digestion.
I understand that some people’s ideas are cemented. But I can no more accept that than accept, for example, a man being can be executed for saying the earth is round while most people had a fixed idea that the earth is flat.
I am NOT an Alex troll. I am one who had been FALSELY accused of crimes but, thank God and WITHOUT A LAWYER, ultimately COMPLETELY exonerated myself beginning with a 22-26 February 2010 jury trial in the court of none other than Judge Clifton Newman.

Moreover, if you look closely at the photo of Maggie’s phone on the grass, you would conclude it was hand-placed there, not thrown from a moving car’s window. The fragile twigs above it are intact and would have been broken by, or bent under, a heavier-than-themselves object with the momentum of being thrown from a car window.
That phone was either pilfered or wrestled from Maggie’s left hand by a member of the shooting cabal BEFORE THE SHOOTING to prevent Maggie from calling for help. That member of the shooting cabal had to dispose of the phone fat enough from Maggie’s reach but close enough for that member to return to the crime seen and rejoin the shooting cabal to “clean” the scene and get away.
All other explanations of the OBJECTIVE undeniable observations are Alex-haters’ with “logic” having more twists than the DNA double helix.
