South Carolina Solicitor, Sheriff at Odds Over Animal Cruelty Case
Rare public feud erupts between prosecutors and law enforcement after felony ill treatment of animal charges are dismissed…

The animal should have been humanely euthanized by a qualified veterinarian, probably well before it got to the state it was in, but definitely before attempting… a DIY cremation? Seriously? Geeze.
Also, please ensure your dogs get their vaccinations. Parvo is especially nasty to animals and it is almost always preventable.
Jeff Bailey is way off base. It is very troubling that a thorough investigation wasn’t done. Why didn’t his investigators speak with the alleged perpetrators before rushing to arrest them. They certainly weren’t a threat to the community at large and an immediate arrest wasn’t warranted. Union County has been notorious for subpar investigations for years and Bailey is just another in a long line of good ole boys to occupy the sheriffs job. It’s a good thing that Union is in Solicitor Brackett’s Circuit or many more citizens of Union would suffer at the hands of its subpar law enforcement. Brackett’s legal acumen is far above that of Bailey, and it appears that the Solicitors office did a more thorough investigation than the UCSO.
The headline should read “Redneck Sheriff gets his ego bruised”. Bailey is the 3rd or 4th Sheriff Union has had since Brackett was elected Solicitor. That should tell you something.
