AAAHHHH – Dylan, you have hit the nail on the head! Look at Glen Way & Charter One in conjunction with American Leadership Academy (essentially one and the same) …. it is Charter Institute at Erskine’s “most-favored” school.

What was it that “Deep throat” said … “Follow the money”.
Erskine needed money. The Charter Institute at Erskine could be a vehicle to work more closely with the state and receive funding. What safeguards are in place with the Charter Institute to provide some oversight of the Charter schools receiving funding? It sounds impressive with platitudes of its mission, but where is the accountability? Probably hiding behind the platitudes. It is just tax money supporting a private institution after all. No big deal.
Isn’t the accountability that the parents can pull their kids out of the school and thus the school loses funds? Sort of the entire point of the free market in education.
Derec Shuler… it begins and ends with him. This guy is an epic nightmare, and I’m sorry the good people of SC are going through this with him. I’m a parent of students at the Ascent Classical Academy in Douglas County, Colorado and I can tell you first hand this man sees classical education as a healthy paycheck more than he does anything else. He makes terrible decisions so routinely you actually start to wonder if he is truly this lacking in discernment and judgment or is it something more malevolent? I cannot encourage the parents at the Fort Mill school enough – get rid of him at all costs and as fast as you can. Sorry you’re having to go through what we did, and yet we were able to finally run this man out of town and you will find a way as well. Get united, beware for his never-ending gaslighting, and be prepared to work over the “management company” he puts between himself and the school as a buffer for his shenanigans.
