The University of South Carolina women’s basketball program won a huge game last week… but the program is coming under fire for the actions of its disc jockey.
On Sunday (January 26, 2025), head coach Dawn Staley‘s program announced it was suspending disc jockey “T.O.” for one game after she trolled LSU guard Flau’Jae Johnson following the Gamecocks’ 66-56 win over the previously undefeated Tigers at Colonial Life Arena last Friday night (January 24, 2025).
T.O. played an instrumental version of rapper Camoflauge‘s ‘Cut Friends‘ – a song released two years before the Savannah, Georgia native was gunned down in his hometown. Johnson – who is also a rapper – is Camoflauge’s daughter. She was born six months after he was murdered.

Not only did T.O. play the song, she seemed to revel in the attention it received.
“My bad” she wrote in an Instagram post taking note of the diss, adding an laughing emoji.
Johnson was having none of it…
“I’ll take my L on the chin, but this just nasty behavior,” she wrote on X. “Nun funny bout that.”
The South Carolina program issued a statement on Sunday apologizing to Johnson, her family and LSU.
“(T.O.’s) actions were understandably upsetting to Flau’jae Johnson and her family and disrespectful to the LSU program and fans,” the statement noted. “Conference rivalries and passionate fan bases should only serve to enhance sports, not be used to target individual players personally.”

“As a result of her actions, T.O. will be suspended for the next women’s basketball home game, and we will meet with her to provide further education on our expectations of her in the future,” the statement continued.
The drama marred another statement win for Staley’s team, which has won fourteen games in a row – including seven games in a row over ranked opponents following a loss to then-No. 5 UCLA in late November. The Gamecocks (19-1, 7-0 SEC) have won a stunning 69 games in a row at home – tied for the longest streak in SEC history and tied for fourth-longest in NCAA history.
There’s been plenty of bad blood between these two programs in recent years. LSU – which won the national title in 2023 – was beaten by South Carolina in last year’s SEC championship. Toward the end of that game, Gamecock guard MiLaysia Fulwiley stole the ball from Johnson, resulting in her fouling Fulwiley to prevent an open court lay-up. South Carolina forward Ashlyn Watkins yelled at Johnson after the play, at which point Johnson shoved her.
Senior center Kamilla Cardoso didn’t appreciate that one bit, pushing Johnson to the ground. At this point the benches of both teams cleared – prompting game officials and law enforcement personnel to intervene in the hopes of preventing further escalation. During the melee, Johnson’s brother – Trayron Milton – stormed the court to protect his sister and was arrested by Greenville police for assault and battery.
The Gamecocks went on to win their second national title in two years (and third overall) under Staley, who has experienced unprecedented success at South Carolina – yet rubbed many fans the wrong way with her über-wokeness.

Thuggish at USC!
I’m surprised that with that level of conflict, the guns didn’t come out.
I must be missing something here. Sorry, but I don’t get the level of “disrespect” allegedly inflicted on Ms Johnson. Admittedly, I never heard of her or her late father, much less the song played. How is playing her late father’s song “an insult”, especially an instrumrntal version?
Yeah, maybe the DJ’s emoji use tends to indicate some level of disrespect, but it seems mild. If not for the emoji thing, I would tend to believe it was a “nod” or honor to her and her late father. Apparently the DJ pushed the right (or wrong) buttons. Sounds like genius to me.
To be so “tough”, these girls sure be hyper-sensitive.
Was he her father or just a baby daddy?
Who cares. Her sperm donor was a thug
