ROCK HILL – Today South Carolina’s Commissioner of Agriculture, Hugh Weathers, endorsed Tommy Pope in the 5th Congressional District race.
“The farmers that I’ve talked to in the 5th district are supporting Tommy because they recognize what he did for them in Columbia,” said Weathers. “When the flood hit two years ago we really needed help and it was not coming from anywhere else, but Tommy stood up and showed leadership on behalf of all farmers.”
“Tommy’s leadership is why farmers in the 5th district are supporting him and it’s why I’m supporting him – because we need his leadership in Washington.”
“I’m honored to accept the Commissioner’s endorsement and am humbled by the outpouring of support we’ve received from hardworking farmers across the district,” said Pope. “Growing up in rural South Carolina, I feel a kinship with our farmers and their families. They know I’m the only candidate in this race that has proven time and again that I will stand up for South Carolina agriculture and I look forward to fighting for our farmers in Congress.”
